Stayed 1st and 2nd Feb 24. For a new hotel the fixtures in the room were shocking, the extractor fan sounded like a mains powered leaf blower so loud I had to use the bathroom in the dark at night, the TV didn't work at all well and turned on at near full volume and the channels wouldn't change in a normal way. We had someone roam the corridors at 3AM making a lot of noise shouting gibberish and I can only assume they were on monkey dust which didn't help as we had a very early start for work. Food was disappointing and the bar service frankly bizarre, I've stayed at loads of premier Inn and it simply wasn't consistent with the brand standards and being told that isn't how it works here for quite ordinary processes was somewhere between amusing and shocking. It wasn't at all busy and I think really the staff could have offered table service for ordering and certainly needed to be aware of how the meal deal operates for those travelling through work. Don't get the wrong idea the bar man was a delight very friendly welcoming, what a character but he hadn't have a clue how to take an order or pull a pint! Breakfast however was really good and I'm still amused that you have a Schindler's lift. I hope you change the extractor fans and I would be happy to stay there again but please sort out the evening dinner experience, there are fantastic pubs in the town and plenty of better places to eat. When you can get a pint for £3.50 and a giant cheese and ham cob for £2 it doesn't sit well to to pay more than that combined for one pint of lousy beer well short of a full pint in the wrong glass with a massive foaming head.b and have to queue for over ten minutes to get it when 3 other staff wonder about doing naff all while their colleague gets into a quite understandable flap at the pressure of having a load of grumpy thirsty bored people watching when we could have sat at our table and had a round brought to us by the other staff doing nothing at all. In fact I've the second night we didn't even bother trying to get more drinks even though we...
Read moreWe were staying at this premier inn for a local parkrun the following day. Once we arrived it was a smooth check in, confirmed Pre-booking and gave us the key to our room, explained where the room was. We a family of four me 31yo, my wife 33yo & two daughters 8yo and 1yo. The room was lovely and clean. We stayed on the 2nd floor there was improvement work being carried out and there was scaffolding but we were advised of that when booking. That wasn't a issue, the whole place still looked clean and tidy even with the improvement works being carried out. During our stay my 1yo needed to go to hospital as she became quiet unwell, once we returned at 21.30hrs LAVINA was lovely she asked how our 1yo was doing and she generally cared she also was kind enough to give us complementary breakfast. We went and had dinner In the room this was around 22.00 - 22.30 the dinner was quite poor we ordered late due to the reason above we ordered two burgers, kids three course meal and two desserts. The two burgers myself and my wife had were ok themselves but we got a smaller portion of chips then our daughter did with her meal the chips were overdone and more scraps of chips then salad was ok and we hardly got any coleslaw just bad quality. However the three course meal my daughter has she loved it it was great the brownie was perfect and warm the garlic bread was done perfectly and she loved the chicken, chips, beans and corn on the cobbs. The desert myself and my wife had were amazing we had the baked cheesecake it tasted lovely would really recommend the dessert. Overall the mains spoilt the rest of the meal and for the price you pay you expect much better quality. The next day our complimentary breakfast was great. The only issue is that there was a little wait for food to come out of the kitchen even though they were not busy but the quality and choice of the food hot and cold was great. Our check out was smooth and we really enjoyed our stay. We would happily return. Thank you Lavina, for your kindness...
Read moreStayed here after our original booking was cancelled due to flooding, and we had to stay elsewhere. Why the company just cancels and refunds your booking instead of trying to relocate you seems bizarre to me. Talk about lack of customer service?
Anyway, ending up here, was 5 minutes from our original destination and no major problem. The car park is “offsite” but actually next to the hotel. It is charged though as it’s managed by a parking company. Although you can get a special rate if you are in the hotel, so why they can’t negotiate free parking for hotel guests is beyond me.
The room was lovely, quite spacious for two adults a teenager and toddler. The menu in the room mentions a kids play zone in the restaurant… they don’t have one! - A downside of having corporate marketing information and not individual to the hotel. The food is reasonable, typical pub food and served with a smile, although fairly expensive for the portions and quality.
The local area is busy but a couple of floors up you don’t hear anything. The room was very comfortable and had loads of room. I am guessing this is a newer build as it was quite modern and well equipped.
Breakfast was great however, loads of choice and the kids are free with the adult meals. We all managed to get fed without the usual quibbles of “I don’t like that”. So it started the day well.
Overall not a bad stay. I have deducted a star for the lack of free parking and misleading room information. Also the fact we had to rebook instead of their booking team actually helping us instead of making us pay again and wait for a refund for the first. The air con and space make up for one star though. So a...
