Booked a Sunday lunch here as we were staying in the castle for the night and it was recommended to us.
I must say that the Sunday lunch was probably one of if not the best I’d had while having one out. That’s no mean feat as most places always have something on the plate that lets them down. But not here.
The brisket and pork were both melt in the mouth and seriously good, the roast spuds were crispy and fluffy, and the Yorker was perfect along with the veg.
The sticky toffee pudding was good, along with the vegan crumble. The only downside on the food front was the sharing Camembert, which at £11 was stupidly tiny.
My only gripe here are the staff, they’re too over the top in checking everything’s alright. They come along every 2mins or less. You get one person and then a different one springs up asking the same thing after you’ve had 2 more mouthfuls. as soon as we’d sat down we were asked what we wanted to drink before we’d even had a chance to look at the menu.
I can live with it as I get they want to give excellent service but there’s a fine line of checking If all’s good and smothering the customer which unfortunately they did here.
To top it off, when I was paying, the young lad assumed I was going to be tipping by asking if I wanted my change back (about £8) now normally I’d have tipped it all but I thought it was pretty cheeky to ask me that, and assume I was going to tip. It’s up to a customer if they’re going to tip...

The menu is fairly limited but all cooked fresh the limits I believe is because there is an equal amount of vegetarian meals.
The mainstay of the menu is their homemade pies you have a choice of 10 fillings
I had pork apple and blackpudding filling and I chose mash which was the best mash I have ever had in a resturant my son in law chose the lamb and mint pie with twice cooked chip massive chunky and golden wow My daughter had gammon egg and the massive golden chips she could have chosen pineapple instead of egg My husband chose the cotswold burger with the highly recommended chips the burger was large and had to be eaten with a knife and fork so big and juicy it couldn't be picked up without a huge mess
We all enjoyed our meals for sure we thought it was a wee bit pricey but definitely value for money all fresh ingredients freshly made and cooked.
Surroundings were clean and average although I did laugh to see a feature by the toilet made of a crumbling wall
We would definitely return if we were to visit Warwick...
Read moreWe were concerned! Having enjoyed a terrific Sunday lunch a couple of months ago, would the same standard of service and taste and quality be the same under new ownership ? In short - Yes, yes & yes! Amongst a few familiar faces, the waiting & bar staff are super accommodating and we were soon seated and perusing the menu. 'Proper pies' ? High stakes marketing! Being pie connoisseurs, we plumped for one each of the 'Chicken, Leek & Bacon' and 'Steak & Ale'. I'm laughing now - imagining the disbelieving rolling eyes of you, the Reader - but as a committed reviewer, intent on and committed to honest & discerning evaluation, l'm confidently stating now that nowhere on earth will you find a better pie ! Nowhere !! Jess (new Owner ) told us how her childhood had been steeped in baking and she was delighted therefore that her pastry recipe was so well received by our delighted tastebuds! Beyond this, each pie was packed with quality ingredients, all expertly mixed & stirred to potent effect! We kept looking at each other! No words! Just home...
