Happy Dragon — Restaurant in Wealden

Very disappointed with this restaurant. We were excited to try as a friend recommended a while back, however, everything from the service to the food was very poor and extremely overpriced for the quality.

Firstly, the food took a long time to be prepared.. which would have been fine if when it came out if was hot. Most of the food was luke warm to cold. Also, when the main was served, the noodles came about five minutes before the rest of the dishes so was freezing by the time we had a complete meal. The taste of the food was not too bad, but the chilli beef was particularly disgusting.

Secondly, the restaurant was so cold that I had to keep my coat on whilst eating. Not a pleasant experience really when your expected to pay high prices.

Finally, the lady who served us wasn't the most welcoming, she came across quite rude. The atmosphere was very uncomfortable.

If your looking for a friendly, good quality Chinese restaurant I would avoid this one. I have been told it was once very good but it has clearly gone down hill.

I strongly recommend You's Restaurant in Hastings. It is run with the same principle, all you can eat for a set price. It is slightly more expensive, however, the food is a very high standard, served warm and the service is very welcoming and friendly so the price...

We ordered two curries and egg fried rice for takeaway. The curries were extremely sweet and tasted as if they had lots of sugar in them or were sweet and sour dishes. The meat was in tiny pieces and seemed like it was reconstituted and there was more onion skin than proper onion. The rice was quite hard and didn't seem fried, just plain rice with a very small amount of egg in. They were such unpleasant meals, we were unable to finish them only eating a few mouthfuls. Unfortunately, when we contacted the restaurant to discuss this with them, they were unhelpful, dismissive and refused to give a full refund, only agreeing to refund the curries. We made the point that we were unable to eat plain rice as a meal and as the rice was covered in the sugary 'curry' but they refused to refund the full amount. A disapointing experience, would not recommend this restaurant and will certainly not return.

The rice was not at a reduced price, you refused to refund it, even though we couldn't eat it and had said it was poor - so we paid £10 for plain, chewy and inedible (as we'd put the saccharine 'curry' sauce...

Genuinely I really don't want to give them 1 star, it would be in the negative if it were up to me. Our food was completely inedible, I didn't go to my usual haunt as they were extremely busy and after a long day I was ravenous and couldn't wait the 50 mins required, so I thought I'd roll the dice on these guys... Absolutely terrible, I had a chicken curry, an animal was slaughtered for this dish! It was absolutely f'in disgusting. So sweet you couldn't possibly eat it. Most definitely a mistake, some sort of error in the kitchen maybe? perhaps the chef should have gone to specsavers? I called to enquire and was told "our curry's are meant to be sweet" I ended up being £16 light and finished the evening off with a bowl of weetabix. Following this I've decided for a career change, I'm thinking dentistry in Pevensey. Seriously just don't, you will be disappointed and you won't get any help from them. The deal is done your cash is in their bank, this is all that matters to them. If you eat and enjoy their super sweet curry's that's great but please go get yourself checked...
