Massilia Bay — Restaurant in Wealden

We did our yearly holiday to Pevensey ! Ordered some takeaway pizzas from Massilia Bay , just eat had just finished delivering, however I rang the restaurant and they said no problem and delivered the pizzas themselves! Wow they were delicious! So we made a point of going back there for lunch , what a treat , we all had different meals from pasta , burgers , sea bass and meatballs and spaghetti, everything was all top quality and delicious, the atmosphere and staff , the ambiance was just beautiful. The day before we left , a Sunday I fancied a roast dinner ! And it was amazing , roast beef cooked mediam rare and to perfection, they had an out door BBQ going on and my partner chose a burger that was absolutely banging , and he knows his burgers!!! We were so blown away by the staff and food, so told our friends to join us for drinks on our last night away ! What a great idea ! We had drinks , served beautifully by lovely kind people , as we had dogs with us too , however we were made to feel so welcome . It was then time to leave , so we asked to buy some food to takeaway with us for our last meal ! The BBQ was closing and the Chef said he would sort a takeaway box for all of us ! Which he did , wow , steak , chicken , pork ribs , the works , amazing ! We were so grateful, I went to pay for this fantastic takeaway , and was told , No it’s on the house , and enjoy ! Well life and kindness doesn’t get any better than that ! It’s a must go to Restaurant which serves quality food , along with quality staff and a great place to be . Cannot recommend it enough ! I feel very privileged meeting Stefan & Greg and even luckier to have eaten at their lovely establishment.

I needed a break from London life and was very happy to spend some time in the more relaxed area of East Sussex.

Visiting Pevensey Bay, I noticed that one of the pubs I used to drink at many years ago had reopened as a restaurant - The Massilia Bay!

The smell of food coming from Massilia was delicious, I had to go in!

I met Stefan , who immediately made me feel very welcome! He warned me that there would be a slight delay if I wanted a Pizza but anything else would be fine.

No sooner had Stefan said that, when Greg quickly introduced himself and offered me a freshly prepared Duck Salad that he had accidentally made - it looked incredible and I couldn't accept fast enough!

Not only was it the best Duck I had had in over 30 years, melt in the mouth, it was also the best plate of food I'd had in a long long while!

Staff were also very attentive, making sure that I felt looked after.

After my fantastic meal, I resolved myself to eat their every night for the rest of my stay.

The next evening I had the Lamb, again melt and mouth and fantastic variety on the plate!

The following day I had the Beef rib - simply amazing!

Next, the gourmet Pizza - never had a Pizza with Pistachios - it WORKS!

Finally, I went back to the Duck - just as wonderful as it was on the first night!

Thank you Stefan, Greg and you're lovely lovely staff - you really made my holiday unforgettable - I so appreciate it!

We had a fantastic evening at this restaurant on Saturday night! When we arrived, there was a pianist playing the piano and I was quite apprehensive that the children might be too noisy for what seemed a small, cosy and intimate setting. However, I was blown away with how great the staff were with the children, which put me at ease! We ordered 3 Pepperoni Pizzas from the kids menu, which came with a scoop of Icecream after, that the kids got to go up and choose themselves. The pizza was large and freshly made, the kids loved them and they were all full up. I ordered the seafood linguine! It was so good, filled with lots of musself, clams, calamari and prawns! My only criticism is that I prefer the sauce a bit thicker but apart from that it was perfect and yummy. My friend ordered the tapas as there was a deal on ordering 3 items off the tapas menu. Not sure if the tapas is a regular item on the menu? But that was delicious, especially the chicken wings. Overall, it was a brilliant night, never even knew it was there as its a bit off the road.
