On the plus side itâs a small but cosy cafe, service was good though not overly friendly, the coffee was very nice and they allow dogs. There is a large display of cakes and savouries at the counter which looked good but we were there for breakfast. Ordered the large cooked breakfast which was very expensive at ÂŁ14, as opposed to ÂŁ9 for a smaller version. Not only was it expensive but it wasnât large either: whilst it had quite a few items (bbq beans, tomatoes, mushroom, egg, âsourdoughâ toast, sausage, bacon and sweet potato) all apart from the tomatoes were pretty small. A single sausage, 2 very small rashers of bacon, single mushroom, very small quantity of beans (no bad thing as they were a strange vinegary/sweet concoction). Nicely cooked to order but I dread to think what the smaller version was like. The sausage was not good quality, very much like a cheap supermarket one and the bread was quite a long way from a decent sourdough. I know itâs been tough in hospitality and costs have gone up a lot but this was the worst of all worlds, expensive, not great quality or quantity for the price. Other half had a bacon sarnie which was again mean on the ingredients an expensive for what it was (about ÂŁ8 I think). Left feeling a bit ripped off Iâm afraid and...
Read moreBeing at the far end of a small alleyway off of the main street you should be doing everything you can to make your business stand out. Well you did on our visit on Thursday 11th April 2024 at about midday, but not in the right way! On entering your cafe we were greeted by staff behind the counter with blank miserable faces that couldn't be bothered to smile or acknowledge any of us. We sat ourselves down at a table that was in need of a clean ( covered in bread crumbs) next too the only other 2 customers in there. We sat there for about 2 minutes so one of our group got up to find a menu at the counter and said hello to the woman behind the counter who completely ignored her ! We waited another couple of minutes and got up and left. Don't expect staff to jump when we walk in, but there is no excuse for being ignored and staff...
Read moreProbably nice as a general cafe but avoid for full meals and especially if gluten free. Gluten free options are throughout the menu, but ordered a gluten free ciabatta and was informed it was just bread. Obviously plain white sliced bread from the nearby co-op. Really unimpressed. If you advertise having gluten free options at least make those options nice rather than doing the bare minimum to tick a box. Also the âciabattaâ stated it had crisps as a side, I kid you not, there were 6 crisps on each of our plates. 6! Poor value for money overall, wonât be...
