Ormskirk Food & Drink Market — Restaurant in West Lancashire

I'm really glad this place exists. The team have done an amazing job with the buildings, it's bringing people to the town and adds a huge amount of value to the town centre. The interior is nicely done and it's an interesting range of food on offer. The staff are all extremely pleasant and I LOVE that it's dog friendly.

The main reason I've knocked stars off are twofold: firstly, it's too expensive. A double G&T and a beer cost me £16.30. I couldn't quite believe it. My Backyard tacos, at £9.95, were not even close to being enough food for a main meal and didn't come with anything. I ordered fries too and padrón peppers from Purely Pizza and still had to have a snack later on in the evening once I was home.

The other negative is related - the menu needs to have more information. If you were able to be served by wait staff like in a normal restaurant you could discuss portions and sides with them before making your decision, but as it is it's difficult to know whether you're ordering enough food (and I clearly got it wrong). Food was good and service friendly.

Full sugar coca cola tasted like diet and there was no decaf coffee on the menu. These are easy fixes which will make the experience better if addressed.

The nature of the concept means that meals arrive sporadically, so if in a group don't expect to be able to eat together unless ordering from the same vendor at the same time. I think that is a reasonable drawback as I can't see any practical way vendors could co-ordinate to deliver meals in sync, it is certainly better to get the food as soon as it is ready and while it's hot. So set expectations accordingly. Visited with a group of 5, we all ordered at the same time from different vendors and my meal arrive probably 10 minutes after the others, we had 2 other friends join us for dessert. Nice layout and friendly staff. Looks very appealling and the bar area to the right looks very good. The burger place is very expensive, but the other places are reasonable for what you would expect.i feel the major floor with this place is that you need to order via a QR code. I am firmly behind using cash as currency, and i do not believe, nor support it being outlawed in this way. It also isolates older generations, such as my parents, who do not feel confident or comfortable paying in this way. I understand the food hall will probably evolve it's practises as it has just opened. I feel taking the same approach from Southports food hall (have an option to also go up and pay with cash) will ultimately be more lucrative.
