Côte Winchester — Restaurant in Winchester

We went to Winchester for a day trip. We were looking for the lovely restaurant to dine in as we’re hungry. We found your place as looks proper restaurant. We decided to go and got sat in.

Unfortunatly, we had a bad experience with the service and cleanliness of the crockery such as cutlery, side plates and glasses on the table were set up with unpleasant and dirty spot left.

We told the staff and changed it for us as it’s almost every single side plate so greasy and dirty left the dirty food on the plates obviously. To be honest, we did not expect anything much from you as we run the business as a restaurant as well.

On the other hand, We did not receive any apologies from the staff and they ignored us and we were shocked a little bit.

Then, we got the drink served on the table and one of your team spilled the drink between the two of us which are the top and jeans wet.

We completely understand that little thing happened by accident but we did not see your prompt action to take care of the customer when you made thing wrong.

Otherwise, we did not get the staff to service the table when all of our drinks emptied. We were looking to fetch your team for long time to come to our table and get the drink for the second round.

So, The food is not bad but nothing so special with the price we spent and service were bad as well as the crockery was not cleaned properly.

Finally, We gave feedback to the manager at the end of the meal and she was very helpful and tried to give us bottle of wines as a complement but we did not want something and to be difficult.

The only main thing we need to give you feedback for the restaurant and your team to improve the service and cleanliness of the crockery. I think we have to say this has put us...

Went for a Mother’s Day celebration, food on the whole was great and ordered from the prix fixé menu which was good value. However the experience was massively let down by the customer service which aside from who I presume was the manager and one waiter, were very stand-off ish. There were a few examples of this. I queried that the offer to get a free glass of fizz in exchange for signing up to the newsletter was mid-leading as additional conditions were applied to qualify for the drink over what was advertised on the menu once you had signed up. When I raised this with our waitress the response was basically a computer says no attitude which I get it’s an offer rolled out by head office but there was no interest in taking that feedback away or raising with any of the management. Additionally she seemed to be frustrated that a member of our party hadn’t decided what drink they wanted. Several occasions I was told ‘to pass my plate’ by a waiter with no please or thank you. Our main took quite a while to arrive and when I asked for an update I was told your plates were cleared 20 mins ago, a burger takes 15 mins to cook so you have another 4 minutes and then I’ll chase the kitchen, how they knew the exact time our plates were cleared I don’t know, but the response was odd. When I ordered a glass of wine the waiter repeated what I said loudly in some theatrical accent again a bit bizarre. Overall there was a strange atmosphere and the staff could benefit from a refresher on customer service as news flash customers exchange money to eat in a restaurant not the other way round. This is the second time myself and my partner have attended cotes for a date night.. the first night was brilliant from the server to the food & so because of this we decided to return and had in mind we would return every year on our anniversary also because we loved it so much! However, the second time around wasn’t good at all. We had the calamari for starters and all we could taste was heaps of garlic to the point we couldn’t finish it as it just wasn’t enjoyable.. for the mains we ordered the shared steak which we had the first time around and we were so disappointed by everything that was served to us. The steak was dry and you couldn’t taste any of the Himalayan salts that were supposed to be on there, the chips were bland & salt and pepper wasn’t provided on our table and getting a waiters attention was impossible. We were told we wasn’t allowed the truffle chips as a side because the steak came with fries, however the first time around we had both and also a nice mash potato that seemed to of been taken off the menu so we found there wasn’t a lot of side choices left so we settled for garlic vegetables which again were so over seasoned. Not only was the food disappointing but the care we received was poor.. the waitress constantly ignored me and spoke to my partner instead and made my partner speak for me which I found really rude.
