I don't normally leave negative reviews but we had a particularly disappointing meal. Very lacklustre chain restaurant. Choose Wagamama over this.
The chow mein was hands down the worst I've ever bar. Bland, unflavoured tasting tofu and the noodles really lacked flavour too. Also there was very little in it bar just egg noodles. I wouldn't mind as there was at least soy sauce to hand however the portion size was unforgivable. I wish I'd taken a photo as it looked more like a starter than a main. I felt instantly disappointed when it arrived.
The dim sum were OK in taste but served on a piece of paper which they stuck to and you had to peel off. They were so stuck that they fell apart when trying to remove them from the basket.
The ramen was particularly bad. It was supposed to be vegan but the broth tasted like they'd accidentally used a chicken broth rather than a veggie one. Also the tofu had what would have been a crispy coating if it hadn't been dunked in broth. Doesn't really make sense when used in a ramen as it was all soggy and falling off.
We also ordered a Korean BBQ dish. The sauce was tasty so would recommend this if you're veggie or vegan and end up at this place. Very pricey given portion size and very sweet but best of a bad lot.
Plus side - the lychee iced tea was nice. The environment is pleasant.
Service charge 10% which felt a bit of a cheek after such a poor meal.
Overall really wish we hadn't gone. Felt so...
Read moreI hadn’t visited dim t in Winchester for years, but I decided it was time to rectify that, and I booked a table for a Saturday night meal with some friends.
The restaurant was very busy when I arrived, which is always a good sign. Once seated, we were given the fantastic menu, and I spent a long time trying to decide what to have!
The bao buns I had to start were fantastic – light, fluffy, and packed full of fillings. For the main course, I opted for Nasi Goreng, which I’ve had before in Singapore. I have to admit, I actually preferred this one to the one I had on holiday! It was very well-flavored, generous with the fillings, and a very enjoyable dish.
I still had a small amount of space to share a dessert – and their Peanut Sundae was calling to me. It was honestly fantastic; it’s everything you want in a dessert.
I found the entire experience very enjoyable, with the food being fantastic and the service being friendly and attentive. I also found the value very good too – with drinks and three courses coming in very reasonably.
I’ll certainly be back again soon, as it’s a great place for a delicious dinner that doesn’t...
Read moreThey recently opened up for collection but probably shouldn’t have. No one was around when it was time to collect. Young woman working there didn’t say a word other than ask the name then left for a few minutes. Odd interaction and no service.
Got the food and it looked less than appealing. Pad Thai had a ton of onions which is not a usual ingredient in this dish. Hardly any prawns, small portion.
Egg fried rice hardly had any egg. Lots of peas. Pok choy wasn’t good. In a vegan oyster sauce. Not fresh and chewy. The superfoods tofu and vegetables looked like it had been out for awhile. Tons of gross brown carrots, not enough tofu, soggy courgettes.
Overall it was disappointing except for the recyclable containers. The worst part was I got food poisoning from this underwhelming food. Really perturbed about that but not surprised. Never order from Dim t again. Quality is poor, staff is lackadaisical. Hygiene is obviously lacking. Needs a food...
