Let me cut a long story short - they don't take vouchers and charge you full price instead, which I think is basically a scam.
I know this is a problem with the parent company sending out vouchers and then not reimbursing franchise owners but the restaurant has to make it clear by putting up a sign or otherwise informing customers. There's no way for me to know they're not going to take it, the subway website the voucher points you to doesn't list the type of voucher I had.
On top of that I had a rather worrying encounter with the supervisor of the branch who just stonewalled me and blamed the poor kid making the sandwiches for having bad english. I had to wait 10 minutes for him to appear because apparently he doesn't stay in the restaurant (I'd imagine he is supposed to) and just lets the 1 other guy run the whole place while he's off doing his own stuff, so the queue was quite long. in the end he gave me the sub for free but we offered to pay the £5 it said on the voucher. Then he said he was going to pay for it "out of his own pocket, at least I can afford £4" like implying I was cheaping out because I was poor? Not the way to talk to a customer with a legitimate complaint.
I suggested to him he should put a sign up making it clear they don't take vouchers and he said he "couldn't do that". Well, why not? It seems like a trick to make people come in and order, then charge them over the odds. I mean, nearly £9 for a ham roll and a packet of crisps is not good value.
To add to that, they used to take vouchers happily before the refurb. Looks like it's under new management maybe, has gone downhill horribly. Shame, I used to quite like...
Read moreIt was pouring down and I thought on my way back home (I was cycling back from a quick shopping trip during my Lunch break) and I thought I would grab a quick snack. The shop was completely empty and the three employees were idling around in the shop and I was told to go back outside and park my bicycle by the shift manager. Meaning I would have to get soaked even more (I would have to go back down the street and lock my bicycle up) for no good reason other than the idling employees might have to clean up some wet tire tracks (remember the shop was COMPLETELY empty and the high street had very few people on it during a Monday lunch while it was belting down with rain). Shocking lack of consideration and customer service, I would give it...
Read moreSubway came to the rescue! In this town where most places had the right food but not the cheapest menu.
Excepting high street cafes which were too far to get to after a few turnings, so not practical when walking and wanting a tea and a snack to stave off the hunger bug, in the slightest.
The snack was a side of meatballs topped with cheese at £2.29 (about) and just the thing at that moment. Gratifying my hunger pangs and making me feel ever so exuberant! Energising my taste buds for another round in another given time. Filled to the brim in this present clime. And it didn't cost the earth So give it a twirl. You will be pleasantly surprised, I can guarantee that before it goes viral.
