Stay away!!!
This quaint old English bar might tempt you to visit with their delicious looking food when searched on google but BE WARNED the food is tragic!
We visited this evening and were shown to our table by admittedly very nice staff however this is where the pleasantries started and ended. The bar itself is nice and the Guinness is somewhat better than most places, however you will not get a beer mat and half the pint will be spilled on the table.
We were given a rickety old table in the middle of the restaurant and were told to order from the app (which we had no problem with).
The starter came and was ok (nothing spectacular) however my partner was served breaded mushrooms which may aswell have been cooked straight out of the Aldi frozen section. They were bland and tasteless, not to mention water covered and would be enough to turn anyone’s stomach. When the main course came I wish I had gotten another take away and was locked down again. The burger came out and was flat as a pancake (it was clearly frozen food also) with a miserable slice of cold cheese slopped on top. Roughly 4 chips were served with this burger and the bucket (yes bucket) of knives and forks that accompanied the meal may aswell have been thrown at us.
The desert was equally as undesirable as the two courses that preceded it. I really hope the chef is quarantining or something because the food was inexcusably bad and if they continue to serve slop like that parking fines will be the only revenue...
Read moreI can't express enough how grateful we are to the incredible staff at this pub for making our wedding celebration truly unforgettable! From the moment we started planning, the team here went above and beyond to accommodate our every need. Their patience, flexibility, and helpfulness were beyond compare.
The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was impeccable. Every dish was prepared to perfection, and our guests couldn't stop raving about the delicious menu.
One of the things that stood out the most was their willingness to let us decorate the space exactly the way we envisioned it, giving our celebration a personal touch that meant the world to us. What sets this pub apart is their understanding and respect for their customers; they didn't require any prepayment, allowing us to focus solely on enjoying our special day.
Thanks to the exceptional team here, our wedding party was filled with laughter, joy, and love. We will cherish the memories created in this warm and inviting atmosphere forever. If you're looking for a venue that combines outstanding service, delectable food, and a staff that genuinely cares about your event, this pub is the perfect choice. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable and stress-free celebration. Thank you once again for making our day absolutely...
Read moreSeems like a nice enough pub, but the first and only time I went there I parked (my mum's car) in the back. There's a huge sign (with a short story's worth of text on it) that begins by saying customers are welcome to park there—at which point I stopped reading and went inside.
Apparently it later goes on to state that you need to register your vehicle at the bar—something which nobody behind the bar thought to mention when I went up to order.
Fast forward several months and my mum is receiving intimidating letters from Debt Recovery Plus (notorious cowboys), threatening her with a CCJ. She has never received any correspondence whatsoever from Euro Car Parks (who apparently operate the car park)—parking charge notice or otherwise.
I will be raising this matter with Trading Standards immediately and with whoever our MP is on 13 December, but I wanted to leave this here as a warning to others.
To the pub management: stop allowing these thuggish charlatans to prey on your customers. As I said, I quite liked the pub (having moved to the area not long ago) but, as a frequent pub-goer, I will not be returning to...
