This local art gallery features a free section, but for a flat rate of £7.50 a year (with concessions), it is possible to see all the other exhibitions. These are small compared to London galleries, but are well curated and often provide insights into the local area. Recent exhibitions have included Turner in Surrey, with 16 large scale works from the Tate (they usually lend a maximum of 10).
A local history gallery features 'The Mad, the Bad and the Dead, with details of Woking's connections to railways, cemeteries, asylum. Other businesses, such as Kenwood mixers, have also been featured.

Read moreBeautiful gallery space and brilliant central location. Feel far more could be done with the space/ empty rooms available e.g., double up learning spaces as gallery space, or rent as artist studio space too. Paid exhibitions are costly compared to other galleries in South and London and small, but needed if visiting to make visit worthwhile. Exhibitions hit and miss either incredible works of art, memorable and worth recommending to others or very amateur for those paying to exhibit in the space. Never had to wait for entry, venue clean and accessible for all. Avid art fan so do visit every few months, just wish this wonderful venue would maximise it's potential. Glad to have this gallery in Woking, it's worth a visit, should be far...

If you're not on Southwestern, I suggest you park somewhere else and take the train to Woking. There's public art in the town (including a War of the Worlds' tripod) on the way from station to the Lightbox. You can enjoy a stroll along the Basingstoke Canal to either Brookwood or West Byfleet station for your return trip to...
