I used to visit this chippy regularly and it was very good but the standards have dropped over time ive now had 2 bad experiences which means i wont be going back again.
I visited there yesterday lunchtime they had just opened up for the day. i asked the gentleman behind the counter if the fried chicken that was displayed was fresh. (As most establishments will always sell the food left over from the day before first before making anything fresh) He sniggered and replied yes i asked him if he was sure he replied yes to be fair it did look very fresh so i ordered a 2 piece chicken and chips and i chose the chicken pieces myself.
He then pulled out some rank chicken from somewhere else (clearly he thought i was dumb and wasnt paying attention!). He got the rank chicken and chucked it into the fryer for a couple of minutes to heat it up and make it seem fresh. They were not the same pieces that i chose. When i left and i bit into the chicken the skin and coating was rock hard and full of oil and it tasted like it had been cooked more than 24 hours before. However the chips were fresh
In my previous encounter i went at the same time and was told the chips were fresh but when i ate them they were rock hard amd old .
A little tip dont go to a chippy unless they have been open for atleast an hour and a half or all your going to get is the food from the previous day.
Standards of this place have dropped massively i will not be...
Read moreAhh, the good old chippy Hay. Well, i stopped going here some time back. When the new owners took over, it only took 4 or 5 visits after, and that was it. The food has never tasted the same again even though some of the staff are still the same. You do get a good portion of food, but it's the quality of food for me. Sometimes, you do have to wait as there is a queue, but that's normal at most places you go to depending on the time you go. Even though the staff do work as quickly as they can, the food needs time to cook. And as for the price, it's getting way too much for the quality of food you get now.
P.s. I've opted for a new takeaway about 3 shops down called New...
Read moreIf you like some Fish and Chips with a gallon of grease then this is the place for you. Disgusting sickly taste from the oil they use, and don’t get me started on the odour emanating from it. It stunk the building out on returning back to my works (Staff were complaining constantly about the awful lingering smell of the Fish and Scallops). Batter way too thick, Fish dry and overcooked and Scallops you have to wring the grease out of before you even attempt to eat them. I’ve been there twice and the first time was utterly appalling, but I thought I’d give them a second chance. There won’t be third chance,...
