This is my favourite local and has been for years. The atmosphere is brilliant and the staff and regulars are lovely. You can tell who is a regular as they're usually "salt of the earth" type folk 😊 Every so often they have live music which unfortunately can be a bit overly loud although the artists are usually impressive to say the least. Have heard Savage Country and The Lemuns here and was impressed. It's in many ways one of the old fashioned "working mens" pubs with a warm, charming and friendly environment. There's a darts board if you fancy a go and they usually have a range of daily papers. The prices are fairly standard. The outdoor area is limited - no green space Although they have tried with hanging baskets which is a nice touch. They have the odd sandwich available for food and usual bar snacks but that's it. There used to be the loveliest pub dog, Major who was very much heart and soul of the pub but sadly he passed. Gone but never forgotten. Best pub dog ever. Which brings me to the best point - it's a dog friendly pub!! Definitely a pub...

Ordered Àmber & that was passable I guess. The art of keeping a good beer seems to have disappeared from marston pubs these days. Will not be returning in a rush. To Cap it all a so called "band" was settling up and the feedback from the amps was ear splitting . This place is more interested in so called "music" than serving a decent pint. Avoid...
Read moreThe Royal Oak is a traditional Victorian street corner pub. Much extended and improved over the years, including a large partly covered beer garden. There is an excellent range of beers, lager and cider, including 3 hand-pulled cask conditions, real ales, which were in excellent condition when we visited. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the landlord took the trouble to tell us about the history of this great pub. If you love good beer, then this pub is highly...
