The Giffard Arms — Restaurant in Wolverhampton

Ordered food and drinks. Food arrived first. All seemed like it had been recently warmed up rather than freshly cooked. plates looked mainly empty. Finished the food. Waited another 10 mins. Plates were not cleared, drinks still not arrived. Went to the bar to ask and was told that the machine hadn't printed and as it wasn't their fault (clearly their equipment and lack of customer service are not their fault) they could do anything about it. Any decent server or manager that should be watching sees a table of 6 with food and no drinks you would think had the sense to check its common practice in nearly every restaurant to check a few mins after deliverimg food, sorry i should say its common practice in a compentently run restaurant.. Cancelled the drinks order and walked out. Will never go back again. Will warm all friends and family...

I used to drink here back in the early 90's, since then before last night I'd only visited once... Not sure why.

We visited last night, started off in the city had something to eat, thought we'd pop down and we were so glad we did. An eclectic mix of rock and metal was being played from the pulpit which complimented the eclectic mix of clientele.

The doorman who asked to check my wife's bag on the way in was polite and professional.

The place was buzzing despite people queuing at the bar 3/4 deep at times there wasn't much of a wait to be served. The drinks were reasonably priced and bar staff friendly and efficient.

Great venue for live music, yet it's filthy. I've never seen a dirtier place before. The toilets are vile, the place itself even smells as you get in. I really don't get why don't they take pride in that? The carpets look 30 years old and they are worn and filthy. Otherwise, very quirky and good rocky atmosphere, just what I like! (although some of the clientele was high on something else than alcohol)
