Now that it is all over and I have graduated, let me get straight to the point: DO NOT GO TO THIS UNIVERSITY IF YOU VALUE YOURSELF! NOTHING is worth your sanity, mental health and wellbeing! I only came here because at the time, many universities did not accept a Triple D* BTEC for Pharmacy even if you had exceptional GCSE results to back it up. I wish I did another course at UOB or Aston because the neglect and mismanagement of this unievrsity makes me wonder why they even exist.
Despite having a faculty for wellbeing, they do not care for you. I had a therapist under the funding of DSA and my university were VERY WELL aware of my mental degradation. What was their response? "Contact wellbeing" this was always their response. Professors didnt care, tutors didnt care and WHEN I approached wellbeing, I was always ignored and made it felt like I was crazy.
LETS NOT EVEN GET TO THE EDUCATION ('m going easy on them I won't even bother mentioning COVID: they should be shut down and investigated for that alone): The University Of Wolverhampton was given a warning a couple years back from the GPHC that they may be stripped of their licence to teach Pharmacy unless they implement drastic improvments; this alone shows the incompetence of Wolverhampton given the extreme low pass rates with pre-reg of students who have studied here. I was frightened to speak up whenever I struggled with something as I received zero support and belittled for asking questions. The only reason I ever passed is because of friends I had studying the same course outside the university who lended me their notes in order to study.
I used to stress and stay awake at night wondering what was wrong with me with nobody to talk to. I really did take the course seriously with my heart and felt like it wasn't enough. I feel as you would only enjoy this place if your main intention is to mess around and not take anything seriously. I am only employed because of my individual dedication. My career has nothing to do with my degree. My references have nothing to do with the university.
To top it all off, I filed an official complaint where they promised to adjust and review policies to prevent further students from ever experiencing what I did again as well as a settlement fee. Well this compensation has not reached me yet. I doubt they will care about future students. All they care about is money. Their faculties are absolute rubbish and in need of desperate renovations.
"A degree is a degree" statement is pure fallacy. Wolverhampton's standards are very low when it comes to enrolling. They will treat you nothing more with someone with extremely low standards. Save yourself and do something else. I used to be a very happy and optimistic person before it all went downhill. Yes University is stressful but a University should also provide genuine support to students, provide work that improves a student's understanding as well as be open to any questions asked: Not "here is an out of date study pack written by retired professors refer to the study pack everything is in there" Trash. Absolute trash. I am...
Read moreI’m not sure where to begin, but as an international student, I would not recommend spending your money on this university. I completed my Master of Public Health here, and while the lecturers were great, the overall experience was stressful.
The finance department is highly disorganised. When I first joined the university, they required me to pay an additional deposit, claiming it was refundable. However, without any prior notice, they later adjusted the fees, causing significant confusion.Despite their own miscalculations and lack of transparency, they treated me as if I had failed to pay the required fees. After numerous emails, they finally provided an explanation yet they still didn’t clarify where the adjustments had been made. My main concern is why they took the extra payment in the first place, only to create unnecessary stress later.
The second issue was with the accommodation.I had to wait three months for my graduation. I requested an extension for my stay during this period, which was initially approved. I clearly informed the staff that I was extending my stay solely because I was waiting for my graduation and would be moving back to Dubai afterward. However, just a week before the ceremony, I was told to move out. This created unnecessary stress, forcing me to relocate all my luggage to a hotel at the last minute. Not only was this a major hassle, but it also affected my ability to fully enjoy my graduation.
Another major issue is the lack of support for alumni. Once you’ve completed your degree, don’t expect any response from them. I have been repeatedly requesting an academic reference letter for my PhD application, but no one seems to care. This lack of support speaks volumes about the university’s priorities it feels like they are only interested in students while they’re paying tuition, but once you graduate, you’re on your own.
I’m offering this as constructive criticism because, while the university falls short of meeting standards in terms of management and organisation, the Public Health department stands out. The majority of the lecturers are highly experienced, and there’s a great opportunity to learn from them. Additionally, the library services are excellent, which enhances the overall academic experience. If the university focused on improving these issues, it could build a strong reputation organically, with alumni proudly representing...
Read moreI guess I should’ve read the reviews before also applying as 99% are bad are actually similar to mine. I’m currently a student here My admissions process was appalling It’s the first university I’ve seen that doesn’t not support low income households as most universities do I asked for support to be able to enrol onto my programme as I couldn’t pay my first installation before Sfe made an instalment I was not aware I had to make it I had thought the process would much like be an undergraduate loan where by the tuition is paid directly to the university When I approached the university as some universities can offer payment plans etc I was told that the university doesn’t not support low income household students I was told they would defer my place and also to defer it until I could make the payment There was no consideration of my circumstances … so much for closing the gap in education for low income households I had to borrow to just be able to make my first installation so that I could make the payment and then Sfe would make the first instalment The enrollment process alone was so bad I couldn’t make the payment using the online portal It kept crushing I had to email the admission team 9 times before they finally supported me with an alternative to make the tuition payment And it’s now time to make another payment and I’m experiencing the same issues and I kid you not the support once again is taking forever and it doesn’t help they have deadlines you need to make to be able to access your next module material. I have never seen such a university with such bad applications or systems. I’ve also never seen such staff that couldn’t care less about a students wellbeing and education. The way he been treated and the lack of support is beyond me. I will honest be trying my best to make a complaint and escalate it because this university needs to be moved...
