Came here for my birthday for the afternoon tea.. not a big celebratory, so I wanted something low key and chilled and this was perfect. For 20£ you get afternoon and two cocktails/ mocktails... it was my birthday of course I had the cocktails. Only thing is you have to have the same cocktail, so there was a bit of mixing around of cocktails. The boozy afternoon tea had been precooked alongside classics (Just tea) but they were happy to accommodate a change to all boozy ones. We ordered a sharing platter to accompany the afternoon tea. This came before the tea and was quite nice and a nice accompaniment to the afternoon tea.. albeit we couldn't eat everything on the afternoon tea as we had probably filled up with the platter. The food was fine.. not the most exciting but not terrible either, I enjoy there little nibbles and enjoyed the afternoon tea.. the scones were fresh and still warm and tasted exceptional - for me if you get the scones right your winning.. The cocktails were really good.. whilst we all know cocktails are mostly ice.. they were still enjoyable and I must say one of the best pina coladas I have tried for a while. The staff were great and super friendly and noticed it was my birthday (I was carrying a rather large balloon) and provided a complimentary bottle of prosecco for our table which was unexpected and welcomed and it was good prosecco too.. Overall I was able to have an enjoyable birthday afternoon and I would definetly frequent here again.. the aesthetics are very pretty, love the hanging floral decor and neon wings. I will come again.

Won’t ever go back in again, suppose I’m not allowed as I’ve been barred. My cousin come over from Dublin and took a week of work as he’s the manager of JD Store. We were in there for about an hour and the bouncer dragged my cousin out for speaking too loud, when he was dragged outside by the bouncer 3 customers attacked him brutally and left him with a broken nose, fractured jaw and scar on his forehead and our other friend tried to stop it and he also was brutally attacked. The 2 bouncers stood and watched and didn’t get involved or tried to protect him at all. The police eventually came and arrested the 3 people on the spot after checking CCTV and were really good with my cousin and my friend and they have pressed charges. I was inside when the attack happened but I tried returning 3 weeks later for a bottomless brunch with my family and the manager comes over and immediately stops me from sitting down infront of everyone and made me feel like I was the one who done the attack or I was the one who was to blame. It made no sense. He eventually let me speak and I explained it was my cousin who got attacked and I was the one inside, he still kicked me and my entire family out. I feel like it’s because we’re from Dublin and maybe he was threatened by our accent and the stereotypes around irish people with drink & fighting. But we just wanted to have a bottomless brunch and enjoy ourselves like everyone else in there. We didn’t argue after I explained myself, we all just left and said it’s more embarrassing and upsetting for us.

We don't really venture in to Wolverhampton and so we aren't familiar with where is good to eat. We saw there was a Slug and Lettuce. Being familiar with the chain, we thought it would be a safe bet. I don't think I've ever received such shocking service. If I could give a minus, I would. The wait for our food was ridiculously long. I don't mind a bit of a wait, especially if it means freshly cooked food, but this was something else. To make matters worse, in all of this time, they didn't even bring us our drinks. They still didn't arrive when our meals came and we had to ask for them. It was only 1830, so early doors. Despite this the pub was full of raucous individuals, who clearly couldn't handle their ale. Food was mediocre. Nothing too bad about it at all (could have been hotter), but at the same time it wasn't special. Prices reasonable, but to be honest, I'd have rather paid more and sat in a better environment with better service. Needless to say, we won't be going back.

Myself and my partner visited S+L yesterday afternoon and were left disappointed with the visit overall.

As both of us work in hospitality, we rarely get a day off together, but yesterday was one of those rare days. We couldn't decide where in Wolverhampton to visit for a late brunch/lunch, but settled on S+L as we saw positive reviews and had been recommended it by a friend. We wish we had gone elsewhere.

We arrived just before 1:30 and the place was empty apart from one large table (10 or so people) who appeared to have already ordered. No one was there to greet us or show us to a table, but no issue as there was plenty to choose from.

Our drinks arrived promptly and the bartender was happy and polite. The drinks were nice and well presented.

We ordered 5 small sharing plates and were disappointed that we had to wait over an hour for our food to arrive, which we thought was unacceptable, especially considering the place was almost empty. One member of staff came over and apologised for the wait after about 30 minutes, but after another 20 minutes of no food, my partner decided to go to the bar to enquire. No explanation was given but it was ensured it would be out very soon.

When the food did arrive about 15 minutes later, the manager (I think) did not offer any apology or explanation for the long wait, and instead tried to offer an explanation for the poorly presented cheese and ham croquettes. The food was mostly tasty, although not particularly hot. The chicken bao buns had 2 tiny tiny pieces of batter on the whole plate (no chicken inside), and the buns were oily and crispy - not like a bao bun at all. The croquettes were, as the manager had explained, very soft and gooey -I wasn't a fan but my partner ate them. This is apparently how they are meant to be and there had been several complaints about them, which I can understand why.

The staff were nice enough but incredibly slow service and mediocre food let it down. We did not feel it was good value for money.

Both having worked in the industry, we are usually very understanding of long wait times and never complain usually. We would've complained to the manager on the day but he had made himself a coffee and excused himself when he saw us getting up to leave, and we doubt it would've...

Went to slug and lettuce in Wolverhampton on Saturday 31st August we were having a good time when we were approached by a member of staff saying the table was reserved although we had been sitting there for a couple of hours there was no reservation sign at all I said how long do we have and she said they are here now they want this table so we were literally thrown off the table I went to the bar and spoke to a guy I presumed was the manager he was very abrupt with us and said they only put reserve signs up half hour before the party are due to arrive and he asked how long the staff member had given us I said we were ushered off within minutes he said that shouldn't of happened but went on to defend the staff member when my wife asked his name he said no I'm not giving you my name so I said is were we removed because there party is bigger and will spend more money than us after a few thinking second's he said no which lead me to believe this was the case the customer service went received was utterly disgusting and I will be putting in a formal complaint with head office I did put a complaint in with head office who said they would reply within 5 working days but 3 weeks later still no phone call or I'm sad the manager said he offered us another table but we declined as this conversation did not take place and we were certainly not offered any other table come on slug and lettuce put your customers needs first and not who spends the most money we were regulars in there but will not return and I woudn't recommend the slug and lettuce bad management bad customer service staff bad head office who believe there management who fail to...

We’ve been to Slug & Lettuce restaurants in Solihull and Brindley Place in Birmingham in the past and they’ve been excellent. On that basis, it made perfect sense to book in Wolverhampton prior to a concert at The Halls, just around the corner.

I placed our order at the bar - two main courses, to be followed by one dessert. The dessert came first with melted ‘ice cream’. The waitress seemed to think this was acceptable.

We asked for the dessert to be taken away. Only the mush of ice cream was taken back.

The mains arrived and were totally underwhelming. We had to ask for condiments and sauce. When asked which sauces were available, the answer came back: ‘Oh that’s a good one - I don’t know!’

We asked for tomato sauce and mayonnaise - not overly extravagant. 10 minutes later it was apparent the waitress had forgotten.

She served a table close by and I attempted to catch her attention by saying ‘Excuse me’ a couple of times. Totally ignored I resorted to whistling to get her attention - something I had never done before in a restaurant.

Two minutes later the restaurant manager was at our table remonstrating with me for belittling his staff member. I hadn’t wished to cause offence, but obviously it was too much to expect anything above a lousy service.

Before we left I had a word with the waitress, explaining that at no time had I sought to be rude or offend her.

She said she hadn’t taken it that way, which begged the question, why was the manager ‘overstepping’ with a confrontational stance.

Needles to say we will never return. The food was poor, the customer service was a contradiction in terms and as for the...
