An absolutely amazing place with fantastic staff, chefs and manager.
My family and I were visiting the area so my daughter Lizzie could visit the University. We decided to try and get a table even though it was very busy.
We were greeted with a smile and a very warm welcome. After a short time we were given a choice of places to seat. We chose the place where we could watch the chefs prepare the food. After a minute or two we were treated to a taster by one of the chefs..... wow! What a delicious treat which had our appetites whetted for some more!
Our waitress was friendly, efficient and happy to chat about the area, working at Hickory's and the food which was great to hear and listen to. She really sold the whole of Worcester to us.
After what can be described as an absolutely amazing meal, which everyone enjoyed immensely, we were asked if we would like to see where the meat had been smoked, which we immediately said yes to.
The Head Chef was very kind enough to take time personally to show us Phoenix the Smoker, you could tell straight away the passion and love that went in to the creation of every meal, he was so articulate about the whole process. The passion was truly infectious and you could tell that the Head Chef easily passed this passion on to his staff just by the experience we just had eating it. We had a very informative and educational look into how the smoked meat was prepared prior to going to the plate.
After the showcasing of the smoker we were treated further to a taste of some of the desserts on offer, the kids especially loved the roasting of marshmallows at the table. For Sam and I it was definitely the Chocolate Cake and ice cream that had our taste buds blown away!
When we came to pay our bill the amazing experience was then taken to another level when the manager had gifted us the whole meal! We were gobsmacked to say the least, I couldn't help myself and just hugged the manager where she stood!!!!
Hickory's Smokehouse Worcester is truly a magical experience and this 22 year Army Veteran will never ever forget the generosity, love, passion and family atmosphere to which were are very lucky to have been part of.
Thank you, thank you, thank you xxx

Read moreWorcester has been waiting a long time for a place like this. I first experienced Hickorys Smokehouse in Wallheath, which was top notch, no complaints great food great service, but I'm not here to talk about that one! Worcester Hickorys is just great, having been to the south in the US, this really dose feel like I'm back there. The food was well presented, well cooked and...Well great! I couldn't sample the ales, wines, spirits and cocktails as I was driving but I can recommend the cherry cream soda in a jam jar. We skipped mains and had the hickory platter which covers nearly all the mains. There wasn't one which was under par. The ribs were quite spicy however the Belly pork, pulled pork and beef brisket were outstanding. This was purely down to taste as it was all cooked to perfection and the meat just fell away from the bone. The seasoning/sauces were exceptional. The desert I had was the cookies and ice cream. Simple put, pure joy! Add to this top service at a steady rate from beginning to end....not too quick and not too slow with a very helpful and freindly atmosphere. This is top rate service. It's not cheap but neither is it expensive, for all I've said I expected to pay more and was very pleasantly surprised making this 5 instead of 4 stars! Hickorys is one of the best places to eat for me. Going back to the beginning they've not let me down maintained the standards and delivered. Thank you for a great evening Hickorys. Moving onto 2022......We've been a number of times and we've never been let down. My new favourite drinks though are the Maple and Walnut old fashioned......a must for whiskey drinkers and the frozen Irish Coffee.....Best cocktail ever! Hickorys...
Read moreAs a non-meat eater, going to a steakhouse is always a bit of a gamble 😂 but it was the chosen venue for a friend’s 40th, so off I went.
Beforehand, I checked the menu online and spotted just one option I could eat—better than nothing, I thought. But when I looked at the menu in-house, I was pleasantly surprised to find several more vegetarian and even vegan options. Nice surprise! I still went with the dish I’d seen online but couldn’t resist adding the poutine-style tater tots on the side.
The food was genuinely delicious, and I’d happily go back again. For context, I grew up eating meat but chose not to as an adult for a number of reasons. That said, if you’re someone who finds the sight of meat difficult, this probably isn’t the place for you—it’s very meat-heavy, as you’d expect from a steakhouse.
The venue itself was great fun. Walking in felt like stepping into the sports bars I’ve visited when staying with family in Canada. There was American football on the TVs, fans in team colours cheering at the bar, and even a big popcorn machine handing out free bags while you browsed the menu. The décor was as close to an authentic American bar as you’re likely to get in the middle of Worcester, with plenty of seating options: booths, bar stools, and regular restaurant tables.
And then there’s the surprise at the back—a full-blown cinema! I assumed it was aimed at kids, but honestly, I was tempted to ditch the 40th birthday meal and sneak off to watch some cartoons.
All in all, for a vegetarian trip to a steakhouse, it was a win. Fun atmosphere, tasty food, and staff who somehow managed to handle a table of twenty of us chatting away without...
