A real treat on every level! Me and my partner enjoy eating out quite regularly, and over the years we’ve found that if you want a truly amazing and memorable experience then you’re far better off steering clear of the big chain restaurants and instead searching out highly regarded independent restaurants, such as Island in Worcester. Our most recent trip was on one of their excellent Meze Nights – three courses, with multiple mouth-watering dishes per course, offering superb quality and quantity at a very reasonable price. The place was full, without feeling overcrowded, with a lively, joyful atmosphere and gentle Greek music playing in the background – which honestly made us feel transported from a cold and wet Worcester to a sunny, faraway Greek land. We were taken care of beautifully by the owner/chef and members of his family, and had several entertaining, funny and fascinating chats with him throughout the night. It was great to hear the story of how Island came to be, and a little bit about the recipes and techniques used to create their delicious dishes. The whole family really do know how to treat their customers and make them feel special and welcome. It genuinely makes all the difference because you get a whole experience, not just a fabulous meal. Even amongst the many lovely restaurants we’ve been fortunate enough to visit over the years, Island really does stand out. We can’t recommend it highly enough, and we hope Island is here to stay for many more years to come, so we can return whenever we want something extra special. Thanks guys!!

A brilliant Greek restaurant. I am sure it is family run. The passion of the man and his daughter who were working the night that I went was amazing. I will return and what a great advert for visiting Greece if this is the level of service and quality of food that you get. I ordered the Fillet of sea bass but unfortunately they had none. Both the man and his daughter were both so very apologetic. When I was informed of this I changed to a vegetarian dish, Briam i think that it was.... The man offered to fillet another of the fish on the menu that would have been served whole for me. I declined he insisted it was no trouble and would be happy to do but I still declined. This was a really impressive level of service. They provided free olives water and bread. Wow awesome. Also the Briam was delightful for sure. We were offered extra bread as well as a lovely after dinner Greek drink I highly recommend Island for the quality of the food and the service that is truly exceptional.

The service was excellent, staff are so lovely, real traditional Greek hospitality & the atmosphere on a Saturday night made it a great evening. We started with a bunch of appetisers to share : Saganaki - perfect, not greasy, just the right amount of squeakiness Courgette fritters - lovely light batter, nice & crunchy Meatballs - heavenly! So light & fluffy, almost like a mousse Spanakopita- my go to in Greece, wasn’t disappointed Tzatziki - just as it should be For main I had Kleftiko - lamb just melted in my mouth, a must have. My friends had Stifado - tender beef in a rich sauce, and pork gyros - lovely juicy & well seasoned We booked weeks in advance for a Saturday so do plan ahead to not be disappointed. Island is better than some Greek tavernas I’ve been too & is well deserved to be called the best place to eat in Worcester

This is Worcester’s best kept secret. Our second visit to island and as before we were not disappointed. It’s rare that we visit a restaurant a second time and still find we are blown away by the food and service but Island delivered on both elements flawlessly.

We haven’t eaten out for some time, and remembering our previous experience we decided to go again. As a lover of Greek food anyway, there Meze night was just too good an opportunity to pass!

The restaurant was busy and rightly so .The atmosphere was vibrant and the owner and staff obviously take great pride in what they do. You’ll leave the restaurant feeling like you’ve made new family!

The food is absolutely delicious, and the Meze night gives the opportunity to sample lots of different things, so no need to worry about what to order. All 3 courses were amazing and honestly, I’d struggle to choose just one item from each course if I was ordering from a regular menu. Also, as a person with a bigger appetite, I was certainly full by the end of the night.

Thank you for a great and memorable experience, we look forward to dining...

We first visited the Greek restaurant with family in March 2022 when on holiday, and the meal was delicious, we had Moussaka. The owner was very helpful and the waitress also good. We returned in July 2023 to celebrate a Special occasion with our family and friends, my relative booked the table and she telelphoned 2 evenings before our booking to check if all the menu was available for that evening and told all would be on, sometimes fish may not be. Three of our party wanted Moussaka. When we arrived we were told no Moussaka ! what Greek restaurant does not have this dish available? The waitress was too loud and excitable and we found her difficult to understand, she said there was a 'Special' which was similar and we agreed to have. When it came it was an egg plant with some mince and bechemal topping, great disappointment. This spoilt the evening not being able to have our menu choices, and would say that when you bother to reserve a table and check availability of menu 2 days before your visit why would this happen? Not sure of a return visit when we...
