The outside is lovely, very Tudor style. I loooove the greenery seen from outside. You go in and they have a small counter where you order after you’ve sat down. I ordered the bubble and squeak and my partner ordered smoked salmon and scramble eggs with toast and a large latte.

The service was quick, within minute we received our drinks and 5 minutes later we had our breakfast.

The bubble and squeak was alright. I was somewhat disappointed by the potatoes, they were borderline room temperature (mind you this was in the morning during October) it was also a bit too mushy, the poached eggs were prepared very well, nice and runny, but it lost some points because water was still running down the side, which lets me think they were not properly drained after being poached. The chorizo was fabulous, it was my FAVOURITE part of the meal, I would order a plate of just chorizo. My partner’s plate looked a bit small, the egg portion was tiny. I tried the toast and it was somewhat cold… I have no idea how this was possible since we literally got our food within 10 minutes of ordering.

Food aside, lovely interior and I quite like the courtyard in the back.

To be fair, I probably should return and try their lunch menu and will...

Best combination of coffees and paninis (sandwiches, but better) in town. If you want to grab a bite and enjoy a pleasant coffee, look no further! Plus, polite and welcoming staff is always a nice touch that they have!

Update January 2019: Unfortunately they pretty much shot them right in the foot - ordered my coffee and food, coffee came quite quickly very nicely and neatly prepared, but as for the food...

I had to wait 30 minutes for a panini, while the people that arrived 5 minutes after me got their food within 20 minutes - ordering the same thing or even more chef-demanding stuff. It is quite unacceptable for a place that charges quite premium places for a cafe.

The only reason I still offered them the 2nd star is because their food has never been disappointing. I do not want to go to extreme lengths, but I jsut want to point out the fact that the people next to which I sat and got their food faster were locals, unlinke me who comes from...

My wife and I have been coming here for quite a few years now. We mainly come for the breakfasts on Sundays, which are always excellent. I almost always have the full English which is just the job! Another great thing is the flat white coffee, which has great flavor. The added bonus for me, is that you can order a large one. In other establishments and chain coffee shops this is usually only available in a small cup. I still have two though as I really like my coffee! The second cup goes nicely with a cake - which me and missus call our breakfast pudding!😀.It is always busy, which speaks volumes I think. Even at peak busy times we have never really had to wait more the five minutes for a table. And last but not least - the staff are absolutely fantastic all round. Cheers guys. Highly recommended👍....

Historic building with a modern menu is winning combination. So good i came back the next week as well. The Tudor period building gives it a homely atmosphere, and the cafe make over still retains much of the old world charm, the addition of the large glass windows gives it a light mood where you can sit and watch the world go by. Having ordered lunch for 4 people i was surprised how quickly it came, the sharing platter has a nice variety of meats, dips and salads and the kids enjoyed their meals as well. Having a beer at lunch time, i promised myself i would come back for breakfast, got to say the Cappuccino was excellent you could taste the coffee.

Papa’s Caffe is a really nice establishment that does breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is served from 8am-12pm, and then lunch until 4pm. The food is tasty - I had a breakfast burger which was delicious, although perhaps a little expensive for what it was (£9.50), but with current inflation maybe this shouldn’t be such a surprise. The coffee was excellent, the staff really know how to make a nice flat white! Overall the staff were very pleasant and friendly, and service was prompt. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area!
