I am honestly surprised that this place has any good reviews.
Went in today an ordered the breakfast which came with a tea or coffee. I asked for a coffee and what came out was this instant machine coffee which I couldn't drink. They use the same machine you might find in hospital lobbies - where you pay 50p, push a button and get a latte.
Anyway I politely asked for a tea instead, which came out weak and milky, so I had to ask for a teabag and more hot water.
Then the kick in the teeth - the bill - they had charged me for replacement tea! I complained and said "it clearly says a free tea or coffee" and this is the best bit - the owner actually came out and started giving off to me! She brought out some beans and said "this is the same coffee they do in costa" (it certainly wasn't). Anyway that wasn't the main issue - the main issue was the woman's complete lack of respect and rudeness. She proceeded to argue (yes argue, with me, a paying customer!) for a few minutes before she finally said to the girl who works there "just give him the discount, get him out of here" I mean the audacity of the woman was completely unbelievable!
Needless to say I will never be back. I have never experienced such rudeness from a shop owner in...
Read moreFantastically quaint surroundings - it's like you go through a time warp on entering - and I mean that in a good way! Lots of ceramic teapots and doilies. Not much has changed here since the 50s - and it doesn't need to - the BBC could set a period drama here.
The food is good honest home-cooked food - this does sometimes mean the service is a little slower (understandably - food is cooked while you wait - not reheated). Freshly cooked veg (no frozen muck), rustic bread, home-made desserts and a cracking mug of tea. Generous portions all round. The staff were very welcoming too and it was very good value for money....

The food is always freshly cooked and amazing. Fantastic value for money. We have also just had a coffee, which was perfect. I only know Jenny the owner by coming for food when in Worthing and she always remember us and is a lovely pleasant lady, who does everything she can for you, so please ignore this negative comment because it simply is not true. Thank you Jenny and staff for your hospitality. Lorraine &...
