I come here regularly for work but this was more a leisure visit.||Never had any issues and has a free residents car park that’s next to a public pay and display. Sainsbury’s and Tescos are adjacent and it’s right in town centre.||Staff always very happy when you arrive. They’re normally working the bar so best make yourself known and a staff member books you in quickly.||It’s a Listed Building so stairs and quirky shaped rooms. There is a lift that accesses only the first floor and I think only 1 room would be wheelchair accessible without having to go down a single step.||Not sure on door widths.||Either way it’s a typical Wetherspoons - consistently good, clean and value for money.||My room (103) is lift accessible and is a single room. Never been cold but can get a bit warm during summer but there’s a fan included. Plus iron, and ironing board plus teas, coffees, chocolate and biscuits plus menus and Spoon magazine. Small shower and WC in 103.||There can be a bit of noise from street at front but I’m used to that. The only annoying thing is at around 0600h there’s a delivery of beer barrels and the noise in fist floor travels up building into room and through pillow. However I never asked to change my room.||Lovely bedding (feathers) so if you’ve allergies I’d let them know beforehand.||Never had any issues and next time I’ll try...

The bar is at the middle of the house in a thin corridor so if busy like the time I went it makes for a really difficult way to get through. The toilets has a disgusting smell because there isn’t any ventilation which it needs as a toilet. I tried to sit outside and order but as the service in the area is bad and the router must be in the middle of the pub it meant I couldn’t and had to go inside to order on a nice sunny day. The seats in the booth style seats were nice and comfy and the food was nice and pleasant as the other spoons I’ve went to the ciabatta bread has been cardboard but this one it was actually ciabatta bread. The staff were pleasant and I was able to charge my phone in my booth as I also got a low battery although I don’t think that plugs were anywhere else so I may have been in luck. Parking is abysmal for a village area that people flock to but the walk from where I parked was pleasant and the area was also nice to have a walkabout. All things considered I rate this in the medium tier of...
Read moreStayed here whilst at the Severn Valley Railway with my husband who was working . Only room available was the disability room, which actually was great as I do have a disability, but try to leave these rooms for people worse than myself. It was a godsend, especially in the bathroom. Very large bed. Room clean, lift to 1st floor. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in the room. Bathroom could do with an update in the shower tiles , but generally a nice room at the front of the building. A large fan and ironing facilities provided in the room too.
The pub downstairs, was a typical JD Wetherspoons. Could have been cleaner. Bar open until 1am but switch off hot drinks just before midnight. We were back to the George late, and I just wanted a cuppa before bed, not realising about the facilities in the room.
All in all it was ok. Would stay here again if needed. However typical JD Wetherspoons food, so if It was available earlier, especially on a Sunday, I'd try for somewhere else, like an...
