So I'd like to think I'm a pleasant polite. accommodating person who tends not to try to upset people unnecessarily. As a business owner I also understand that one bad experience can affect how people perceive your business for years to come. Anyway I popped into town a short while ago and in the process of getting there, via the lanes outside town I'd had to reverse my car no less than 4 times to enable other drivers to pass me. No biggie.. it happens to us all however, on turning into the lane to the Post Office to collect a parcel I was faced with yet another - a large 4x4 so I started to reverse yet again but this time it was backing out into the traffic on High Street. No chance!! only option was to pull onto the car park at the Wheatsheaf - not something I would or have usually done but it was either that or risk flattening an unsuspecting little old lady or 2. Anyway, said carpark was virtually empty and logically speaking it would (and did) take me longer to reverse back out of the carpark than to pop over the wall and pick up my parcel. If there had been anyone outside I would have asked first but nobody appeared to be around and again would have taken me longer to seek approval from the bar staff. Well... bad move on my part because before I'd taken the 2 steps over the wall I was ordered back, accused of not being able to read and told to get off the * car park. I attempted to apologise and explain - yes there was a sign however.... "no bloody excuses - shift it" So I obliged obviously and would have also apologised and obliged if Id been asked in the manner I speak to people but hey...... Well needless to say I shall be avoiding this particular establishment from now on and I wouldn't dream of mentioning my experience on social media. Thinking about it though, I doubt it would matter as I'm fairly sure a large percentage of their clients lack the skills necessary to read it anyway.....sorry couldn't resist!! So all in all I think the Wheatsheaf most definitely deserves 5 STARS for marking me feel so very welcome. Incidentally, I did manage to pick up my parcel and guess what I had to do as I was driving out?
Forgot to mention that NO LITTLE OLD LADIES were injured in the writing...
Read moreMyself and my partner visited the wheatsheaf for a lovely meal and some drinks. On arrival we found a welcoming atmosphere. The landlord and landlady greeted us within 30 seconds of our arrival. We were immediately asked what we would like to drink and if we’d had a good day. The food was absolutely amazing and very well priced. The portion sizes were really good for the price you pay. The pub is definitely family friendly and we will definitely be...
Read moreI appreciate it was a busy weekend, but service was appalling, with music blaring in the courtyard making it difficult to hear in the pub. This used to be a half decent boozer, but no longer. One to avoid, there are plenty of other, far better pubs in the town. They should also be investigated by trading standards and advertising standards for their claims to sell 'traditional ales', when in reality they only sell bland, cold, tasteless,...
