I’ve been a huge Samarai Sushi fan for many years. Always incredible food & excellent service. But we went last night & the service was awful. There were 5 seated tables & 2 wait staff waiting tables & working phones. We were brought menus but then waited almost 10 minutes to give our drink order. While we were waiting, I noticed the woman at the next table go to the counter to request her check. She brought it back to the table & then they waited for almost 20 minutes for their waitress to cash them out. They paid in cash & said they did not want change. As they—a group of three—were halfway out the door, the waitress YELLS across the restaurant for them to stop. She proceeds to yell at these young people that they didn’t pay their check & they shorted her a whole 63 cents. Their bill was $43.63 & apparently, they only put $43 in the folio. Which, yes, they need to pay what is owed. But I just paid over $50 to watch a waitress publicly shame people over 63 cents. She also said “You told me you didn’t need change & you didn’t even tip.” It was so incredibly rude & awkward.
After that, I think she realized I was bothered by it because we literally had a server at our table every 2 minutes. I noticed she was being sugar sweet to all of the other tables as well.
I get it, everyone needs to pay their bill. And everyone gets frustrated or has a bad day. But this was too much over 63 cents. Also, after all that, the chefs brought out our food.
Food was excellent as usual but I’ll think really hard about...
Read moreThis is a restaurant I visit regularly; in fact, almost four times a month, which is significant because I am not very wealthy, and sushi is not very cheap. The service inside is very good, with only a few occasions being not bad, but strange. They have a wide range of selections from Sushi to Udon and Ramen, and then even Fried King Crab. Their beverages are very nice, and they carry a very delectable Berry Lemonade. There is also a bar in the restaurant where I believe you could order sake. The interior of the store is a nice modern design, and is always very clean and appealing to the eyes. If I could recommend a few dishes to order it would be the Rolls Royce ($16), the Plain Udon ($14), or the Seafood Ramen (I believe it is either $16 or $17). Another excellent choice to go with any meal would be the Miso Soup or Edamame. The takeout service is pretty satisfying, and most of the time everything goes well. The only reason that I haven’t given the restaurant a five star review is because sometimes the employees can be fairly abrasive, especially over the phone; and sometimes when you get takeout, the food is old, cold, or just not as good as usual. Otherwise, this is a great place to go; especially if...
Read moreSince they aren't usually open when I pass by, this is the first time I've had a chance to try out Samurai Sushi Bar & Grill - and I'm so glad I did. They have delicious, very fresh sashimi (sushi) and a friendly and helpful staff and owner/chef in a beautiful and relaxed casual atmosphere. The restaurant and restrooms were apparently kept very clean and well stocked. I sat at the sushi bar and felt like I was being catered to in a fine dining establishment. I ordered the Chirashi Sushi meal (sashimi on a bowl of rice with seaweed and other toppings) and a flavored sake. The sushi portions and seasoning on the seaweed salad were absolute superstars. The simple miso soup I got was for some reason one of the best I've had. Lychee Sake was also very flavorful and tasty, and they had several flavored varieties available. Not too busy, but plenty of customers, mostly regulars; not too many children. Small selection of some very nice wines, beers, and sakes. Since I ordered one of their highest cost meals and added alcohol, the total for me was about $40, but that's cheap and worth the cost and experience. I will return, I just wish they were open...
