Wasabi Sushi Steak — Restaurant in Acworth

This review is about an employee named Gede.

I came in to pick up a DoorDash order today (after picking up food for the same customer from the restaurant next door first) & was told there would be a 15 minute wait, so I sat down at the nearest empty table (so that the food/drink from the other restaurant wouldn't spill).

I had been there a few minutes when Gede walked up & his first words to me was him DEMANDING (quite rudely, I might add) that I move from HIS table.

He didn't even bother to ask first or try to be respectful about it. He then stood over me literally staring me down while calling over a family to come sit at the table I was already at. I explained to him that ALL of the nearby tables were currently empty & that I sat here (& not on the curved benches) because I didn't want to risk my customer's food/drink tipping over...but he again DEMANDED I get up & move to the benches.

I was honestly so taken aback & felt humiliated both by his behavior as well as the family he had called over to watch him treat me this way. I didn't want to cause a scene, so I moved, but have rarely felt so publically humiliated in my life before.

I then had to sit there for another 10-15 minutes waiting while he glared at me with a gloating look every time he passed by. It was humiliating & no one deserves to be treated this way.

This is my absolute favorite place to get sushi in town. The food is always fantastic and never disappoints.

However, today I experienced something that was off-putting and uncomfortable.

I usually order my food to go, but today I decided to eat inside. I ordered my usual, a California roll ($6) and a spicy salmon roll ($7). My server brought back a California roll ($6) and a spicy crab roll ($7).

Apparently, when I asked to have the spicy crab swapped for the spicy salmon that I originally ordered, the owner tells the server that they will to have to pay for the mistake they made.

This then puts me in an uncomfortable and frustrating position. Not only is the server being punished for being human, but their guest is being punished as well. Ultimately, I ate the food I didn't order because I didn't want the server to pay for my food. It was fine, but it wasn't the food I excitedly came there for.

I'm not sure I want to continue eating here knowing that the owner works in this way. Which is a shame, because the servers are extremely kind and wonderful, and the food is always exceptional.

I just don't think punishing your crew and guests for honest mistakes makes for a pleasant and welcoming experience. It certainly wasn't for me, and after eating here so many times, the entire thing caught me off guard & made me leave feeling unsatisfied &...

I placed a pick up order for lunch today at 305pm. There was no indicator on your menu or website that I could see that specified your lunch time frames. Now, I called to place my order and was given the lunch price. So I go to pick up my order and your employee thought it would be prudent to chastise me about asking for a lunch special when he could have easily just told me over the phone lunch was over and I still would have paid the dinner price. The restaurant was pretty empty except the people at bar, where I was checked out. Your employee decided to loudly reprimand me in front of a bar full of people, like I was stealing from you. Sighing and talking loudly he said “ Umm, I’m trying be nice🙄😑. But you ordered the lunch special and it wasn’t lunch.” He went on to tell me I called at 305pm, never taking accountability the fact that he honestly could have just informed me lunch was over on the phone. This is a disgusting way to treat a customer. I come in all the time and have recommended you countless times to friends and family. I hope he gained something other than white approval from that interaction. I will not be coming back to this establishment ever again and I will tell everyone I know that you do not respect black dollars and you find it empowering to embarrass...
