Don't eat here, save your time, money, and learn from my mistake !!!
Initial review (10/12/17) I'm not entirely sure why exactly this breakfast joint is brazen enough to call themselves a "Pancake House." The service has been average, nothing to rave about. But this place seems like a cracker barrel knock off, including!! Cheap decorations! and wall hangings! From the looks of the food it seems like cheaply cranked out food from bags or boxes. But, the pancakes, I wouldn't know this if I didn't have a weird obsession with making the perfect pancake. This "pancake House" clearly uses box mix for their pancakes. It's gross, it's Bisquick or something even cheaper. Flat, gummy pancakes are not something I would willingly pay $10 USD for. Ha.
While I appreciate the effort, this place is deceptive to the very last word of the complete definition. The pancakes were inedible, the server offered to help, but didn't actually help?? A common theme in modern society, those who offer to help, but have no authority or capability to follow through.
Huge disappointment!!!
Update: (10/12/17) Yes, whoever replied is obviously trying to feed individuals misinformation, three pancakes(flat, gummy, tasteless) two eggs and a "sausage patty" ( that was once a hockey puck) cost $9.95. I'll apologize for the mistake in my math, I didn't include the eggs which I doubt were organic or free range, kind of bizarre they cost that much. So, what was of high value here, Millie's pancake House employee? A frozen sausage patty ? I'd love to talk to about your business practices if you'd like!
This may have been an establishment that was once to be proud of. But now it's a breakfast chain knock off. They buy goods and slap labels on them then jack up the price. If you don't believe me, go there and look around.
Stop by, pop in, once you see beyond the extremely outdated exterior, and if you manage to get through the ancient and medieval double doors. You will then quickly realize... they just don't have the rocking chairs out front.
It's completely fake, someone may have bought into the heritage of this greasy spoon, but it is far from genuine. I added a star because someone replied, but then I subtracted it because they werent genuine or honest. Zero stars isn't available at this time.
I'll keep updating this review as it is relevant.
Update: (10/13/17)
Thanks "Jim" for replying, I can't help but notice your grammar and sentence structure is nearly identical to the person who posted before you! Crazy!
Super treat ? Is that the outrageously priced plate of slop that is pictured in that image I posted ? Please, for everyone's entertainment defend the cost.
Dishonesty seems to be something your employees and you seem comfortable with. Anyone can Google this restaurant and find there is no history, there aren't even decent reviews elsewhere.
I didn't want to mention this in the review but heritage or not... This restaurant is located directly behind a gas station. So ... I guess we should have expected this type of quality and response from a place that can't afford to relocate to a better location in 60 years? But that gas station probably wasn't there 40 years ago, right? Is that the excuse this time? A lot of excuses were made in these updates you and your employees keep making.
This conversation is evidence enough for everyone reading this.
Again, don't eat here, save your time, money, and learn from my mistake !!!
Sincerely,
The Easter Bunny (See how...
Read moreGooey Pancakes... I'm editing my review so the Owner understands the actual experience received there, not to be vindictive. As a business owner, I appreciate hearing what someone has to offer in regards to Customer Service. Here is the original post to the other site. Rick
I visited Millie's Pancake Shoppe a while back April 2016 (605 W Lake St, Addison, IL) and at 11:00 AM I was one of five Customers in the establishment. In fact, I had the entire east room to myself, so I really don't know if the other four people there were Customers or if they worked there. I ordered regular Buttermilk Pancakes, Two Eggs over easy, Toast and Coffee. After waiting almost 30 minutes, (4 other people in the place) my food finally arrived. After three bites from the Pancakes, I noticed they were unusually "Gummy" and apparently hadn't been cooked thoroughly. The Cook must have been swamped with orders from the FIVE of us in the place... I ate the Eggs and Toast, drank my Coffee and when I realized the Waitress wasn't coming by at all to warm up my Coffee after 45 minutes being there and ask me how the food was, I got up and went to the Cashier's counter to get my check (She didn't even bother bringing me that check in almost an hour) and pay it. She added up the bill and told me it was $14.75 with tax included. As I was paying her I politely mentioned that I couldn't eat much of the Pancakes (they were still sitting on the plate at the table) because they were "Gummy" and very under-cooked. She replied, "I'll tell the Cook, he usually makes them okay" then she gave me my change for a $20.00 bill and I exited. I normally would have walked back to the table with the $5.25 in change and left it there, but because she never bothered to offer me a Coffee warm-up or even bother to visit my table in the hour I was there I didn't. I didn't blame her for the Cooks incompetence, but rather her own.
Moral of this story? If you own a Restaurant and name it after a specific dish, or in this case a simple plain "Pancake", make damn well sure you offer a perfect entree, or change the name of the establishment to " __ Gummy Pancake Shoppe". Three Pancakes for $5.75 @ $1.92 per Pancake $2.00 per Egg $1.75 for Two Slices of Toast $2.15 for a small cup of Coffee. No Warm-Up was offered during my stay. I'm sharing this original post from a site that discusses errors in restaurant management. It all begins with a great meal, other poor service can be ignored if you are satisfied with your meal.
I was asked if they were regular Buttermilk or one of their fruity ones... "in this case a simple...
Read moreI'm giving it five stars due to a balance between these features (Quality) I liked how the multi grain pancakes consumed less calories and right amount of sugar compared to the original one which tasted like mashed potatoes and buttery salt, the eggs, sausage and hash browns tasted good and passable, the asthetics look unique and blended well with their old fashioned theme (Experience) Waitresses we're Nice and welcoming enough to serve us with joy, they take reasonable time to prepare and cook food, they offer Xfinity WIFI as Waiting filler to reduce boredom and anxiety, the space was big enough to fit up to 200 people but only saw a moderate amount which fills some company (Accessibility) It is much nearby and not that far enough to enter and exit this place which is a good fit because we live nearby Elk Grove and Addison (Price) Remember, it's a local mom and pop restaurant and not a fast food so the price things higher which is okay for them The price is the right fit for a average customer combined with quality and experience (Overall) I think it's a good balance between these factors and my experience and if you want the greatest meal without grabbing lots of dollars, i think it's a good idea to go there...
