Cash-only!!! (It's 2017... who carries cash anymore? It's not very well advertised anywhere in here that they only accept cash and then refer you to an ATM with exorbitant fees around the corner... seriously... ever heard of Square???)
Tiny dining area. (The tables are WAY too close together... feels like you're eating at someone else's table... AND we had a very difficult time getting my Grandmother, who's in a wheelchair and our toddler in a stroller to a table... kept getting dirty looks from people)
The food is just okay. (It's probably great if you have Celiac disease, you're vegetarian / vegan, but everything was VERY bland)
The wait. (We waited for what seemed like FOREVER to even get into this place... the line starts inside the door and snakes outside and down the street... there's no way this is even safe having people crammed in the entryway so that no one can get out... and once you're actually seated it takes forever to get what you ordered... I had three cups of coffee while waiting for our food to be ready)
Almost-zero parking. (Located on a super busy street... there's very limited parking... it's just not a great location for a restaurant)
/ - Nothing matches. (None of the tables are the same... none of the plates, cups, or flatware match... it's like they got everything from a bunch of tag sales / estate sales)
Coffee is plentiful.
Wait staff are pleasant.
Place is eclectic... local art and photos all over the walls.
Go here if you or someone you know has Celiac disease or is a vegetarian / vegan... but other than that, it doesn't warrant a special...

With less than 2 weeks notice, I called Auntie Cathie's Kitchen to order a simple wedding cake.
I was so grateful they took the order, I told them when I needed to pick it up by and how many people, they took care of everything. I didn't have to think about what size cake it would be. They knew what size the cake had to be for a 15 person wedding.
Our guests all gave such an amazing feedback on the cake. How could it be Gluten Free? And still taste so good?!
It was nice to hear such great feedback from our families. Thank you for making our wedding cake with short notice and allowing everyone to be able to eat the dessert! I know what it is like to be invited to events and not be able to eat almost anything on the menu. This way our wedding cake was very inclusive of everyone.
I enjoyed the simple no fuss aesthetic, it was exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you!! . . .
One of my favorite places ever.
Feels like home, just sitting at home in a busy kitchen like my Grandmas. The hustle and bustle. The mismatched mugs, the random salt and pepper shakers it is the homey vibe you are looking for a home away from home.
I love the homey atmosphere.
I am gluten free (not celiac or allergy but intolerant).
I have tried all the food. It is all delicious. The breads, the cookies, the muffins, the sandwiches, the soups. I mean everything it is all delicious.
It is all so so good.
It is a great place for a brunch or lunch.
Very allergy friendly / allergy conscious.
I highly, highly recommend if you visit Western MA.
Always check the hours...
Read moreMy daughter was diagnosed with Celiacs a month ago. Today my mother and myself took her out to eat here to lift her spirits and return to some normalcy. My mother and I do not have any food allergies or conditions that require dietary restrictions.
I will be honest...I went there with full expectations to be a bit disappointed. Gluten-free, allergy-friendly food has a reputation for being not a good as standard fare. I am here to report that I was so very wrong.
I got the avocado toast and my daughter chose the apple waffles. I don't think I've had a better breakfast in years...I can honestly say that the gluten-free meal was so good that I'm annoyed we don't live closer to Auntie Cathie so I could have this regularly. My daughter cleaned her plate and had nothing but compliments for the meal.
Of course... we couldn't leave without some baked goods after seeing the display case and tasting the quality of the other dishes. The chocolate cake was excellent... but holy hell was the cinnamon bun worth killing for. I would take this gluten free cinnamon bin over Cinnabon... words I never thought I'd utter.
I don't know Aunt Cathie or anyone who works there. I've got no skin in this game. I just want to give praise where it has been oh-so-rightfully earned. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. I'd give double the stars if I could and I'll definitely be visiting again.
Thank you guys for being amazing and keeping the joy in food for the bread-loving...
