The piña coladas were quite large! Sometimes they're soo small that we need another before the food comes out. Not the case here! My husband read the sign out front that claimed they have the best Mofongo in town. Not one to shy away from a challenge, he tried several different places before we came here. He ordered the Dorado Mofongo with Garlic and agreed, it's the best in town (that he has tried).
I had the Dorado with Mango. I only had a little Mango that I couldn't really taste, but the fish was cooked perfectly and very tasty. I'm a big fan of fries, and these were perfect. Crispy, hot, perfectly salted.
Our server was attentive and did hee job. I wish she was a bit more personable. Sometimes I like to chat, ask about the menu etc. She seemed too busy although there were only 4 other tables seated in the house and 3 other servers and a hostess. She did come back to check on us, which was appreciated! Many times in Puerto Rico, we have been served our food and then we don't see a server again until we ask for a check.
The AC was very cold - 3 mini splits set to 63⁰. Quite a shock when coming inside from 90⁰. It's a common theme here in PR though, so I just shiver while I eat. I wish it was acceptable to be a bit warmer but I also understand that people like the cool AC. I noticed a Spanish speaking woman brought a cardigan with her into the restaurant so it's likely just expected to be very cold.
Not vegetarian friendly. I eat fish but no land animals so I was ok. Many things on the menu that I expected to be vegetarian had meat in them.
Bathrooms were cleaned and well stocked. Restaurant was clean and the decor was really cute!
All in all, a great experience and we...
Read moreThis was one of the best meals I've had in years. Everything was exceptional.
We started off with a passion fruit martini and passion fruit daiquiri. Wow we're they yummy. I could drink these all day everyday. Dangerously delicious.
We started off with the fish tacos for an appetizer. They were super fresh, still hot. The fish was moist and delicious inside and had a seriously crunchy outside. There was a nice spicy mayo, and a mango pico. I've only had better fish tacos once in my life.
My wife has mamposteao relleno (pollo) and it was out of this world. The depth of flavor was classic, and how I want all my island rice to taste. The portion size was generous and well.
I had the dorado tropical. The fish was light, flakey, and buttery. It was topped with that sweet tangy mango pico which contrasted the meunlere sauce which had hints of lemony citrus and browned butter. Perfection! My sweet plantains were again some of the best I've ever had. They were soft, crunchy, sweet, and had a fresh fruity flavor.
At this point I was full, but not finished. Dessert was a beautiful creme brulee. The custard was so soft that it melted in my mouth. It had a creamy rich traditional flavor with a caramelized echo of coconut. If there weren't so many people around I would have licked the bowl.
Our server Cristina (I hope I spelled that correctly) was fantastic as well. She was prompt and attentive. We never had an empty glass, and she cleared the plates as fast as I could eat the food off of them.
I can't wait to go back, and I will be back! Desecheo is a MUST for anyone who loves food...
Read moreOur visit to Aguadilla was truly elevated by our experience at Desecheo. The restaurant boasts a beautiful ambiance, with comfortable seating and a refreshing atmosphere.
The service we received was exemplary, and a model for hospitality in the region. Our waiter, Aaron, was incredibly resourceful, attentive, and personable. He treated my family and I with the utmost respect and kindness. He not only provided us with insightful recommendations for our meals, but also offered helpful tips on places to visit in Aguadilla and beyond.
The food itself was outstanding. The steak used in the dishes was of the highest quality, cooked to perfection and seasoned flawlessly. Each ingredient complemented the base of plantains and rice beautifully, creating a delightful symphony of flavors that perfectly satisfied our appetites. We left feeling comfortably full and thoroughly impressed. I highly recommend Desecheo to anyone seeking a relaxing and fulfilling dining experience in Aguadilla.
While everything else was exceptional, it's worth mentioning that the passion fruit juice seemed a bit diluted and lacked its full flavor profile. This was the only aspect that fell short of our otherwise...
