I've been to Electric Eats twice. The first time I went, I got one of their burgers. It was excellent, perfectly cooked and absolutely hit the spot with just the right level of spice. The bartender at the time was personable, timely and me feel attended to despite there being a decent crowd at the bar, who he also waited on professionally.
The second time I went was New Years Eve. The bar was empty save for the wait staff, and while the rest of the tables were packed, all of them were already eating, had drinks and food. I waited to be seated, despite no line, and two of the wait staff just hanging around in the back. Once seated, the bartender gave me an attitude and acted like I was bothering her. And while taking no orders or making any drinks it took her almost ten minutes to pour me a glass of water, hand me a menu and make the old fashioned I asked for. Another couple sat down next to me, several minutes after and ordered two cocktails and received their orders before me. The bartender then proceeded to walk away from me, in the middle of placing an order, and got offended when I stopped speaking. So between the five star service of the first time and the one star of the second, I'll level it out to a three.
During New Years, I ordered their Pork Bahn Mi sandwich. For 16$, I wasn't expecting pork belly, but maybe some roasted tenderloin or thinly sliced cuts. I got pulled pork. There was next to none of the typical flavors or spice you'd expect from a Bahn Mi. I wouldn't order it again. Four stars on food for the first time, one and a half for the second time. My biggest compliant is how few fries you get, even if they're excellent.
Atmosphere itself, eh, it's a fairly empty, undecorated bar that's kept pretty dark. Great for ducking in and grabbing a drink then going into the alley. That's about it. Its serviceable.
Overall, if you're getting one of the burgers, Electric Eats is a decent spot to grab a beer and some grub, but there's certainly better spots in Aiken. Sadly, unless it was just an off night the last time I went, I can not in good conscious suggest anyone go to be snubbed by...
Read moreWe arrived with great excitement for lunch and left very disappointed. We ordered chicken wings, but the meat had no flavor. My wife ordered them without sauce, and they arrived without any kind of seasoning. They were inedible. Instead, I ordered a hamburger, and it was good. We recommend that cooks receive better food handling training. All meats should be seasoned according to the type of meat or use. But poultry should be seasoned at least.
I want to clarify the following for management or the person answering my comment. When the order was placed, it was only ordered without the flavors listed on the menu. At no point did we order chicken wings without any seasoning. Common sense should tell you that once your order is returned because the chicken wings have no seasoning and their flavor is bland, something is wrong. I clarified to the waitress that the chicken had no flavor. That there was no way I could eat that food. The request was that they not bring any of the flavors listed on the menu. The standard of commercial cooking, which is yours, must have someone knowledgeable about food handling. They must have a culinary education. And in culinary training, it is always shown that foods containing poultry must have some type of seasoning to enhance the bird's flavor. Chicken is not like beef or pork; chicken needs added flavor. A simple salt and pepper could be a waste. Also, a light seasoning. The purpose of my comment is so that you, as a business, can make adjustments. My wife has ordered chicken wings without the menu flavors at other restaurants, and they come out tasting good because they've been lightly seasoned to enhance the flavor. I don't think it's that difficult to understand. They probably need more guidance on how to handle the order. But in the kitchen, there are standards that must be maintained... and birds always need seasoning. Flavors are...
Read moreWent for lunch. Started with cocktails. My husband ordered a Manhattan straight up and was served a Manhattan with ice. I ordered a Gin and Tonic. There was more tonic than gin. Next, he ordered a catfish po boy with fries. I ordered a French onion burger that comes with au jus, and a side salad or fries. The catfish po boy looked good, hot fresh. He asked for chips but got fries instead. The fries were hard as they were the first time my husband was here, but he tried again and same thing. I tried to cut into my double pattied hamburger in half and couldn't saw through the middle. So, I had to take the burger apart, only to find a half piece of very hard bun stuck in the middle of two very, very burnt patties. We assumed it was there to plump up the middle of the sandwich. They probably thought no one would notice if you are dunking your hamburger in an au jus. If I hadn't been so hungry at the time, I should have sent the whole thing back. Anyway, the patties were thin like a McDonald's hamburger pattie. It also had a few grilled onions on it, and the Swiss cheese melted. The side salad was small, but ok. For a $17 burger, this was a real disappointment compared to other places we could've selected for lunch. The worst problem was the flies. They have an open window to the Alley so you can walk up and get a drink, but it leaves the entire restaurant open. It was somewhat cool, but annoying batting flies. Lunch with 2 cocktails and tip $68.00. We won't...
