Hello. My husband and I ate at the Takosushi in Aiken, SC yesterday afternoon. We typically eat at the Augusta, GA location. We have eaten at the Evans location as well. We have been eating at Takosushi for over 10 years. It has always been a fun, splurge date meal and we always get drinks, appetizers and meals. My husband has raved about your burger for years as the best burger in town. We are not first timers and we are very much fans of the food. BUT on Saturday, we were so disappointed and have had stomach troubles since eating at your restaurant. The food, the service- everything was lacking. I have no doubt that it was the worst restaurant that we have eaten at this year. We sat down and immediately noticed that the menu had changed a little bit, so it did take us a longer time ordering, since what I typically order was not on the menu, but again, we love everything we've eaten at Takosushi, so we ordered our typical drink and appetizer. This is where it went downhill. We ordered the appetizer and drinks. Other people were getting their drinks, despite them having been seated 10 minutes after us. I still had not gotten my drink. Then the appetizer came out and queso was greasy and the beans at the bottom looked like they had been cooked and left on the stove for days. We ordered our lunch and then waited for my drink. Finally we had to flag down the waitress. I think she had forgotten my drink since she had been up front on her phone. Then she brought the drink and the meal. Our lunch was incorrect and the waitress did not even bat an eye. One of my husband's favorite things out the burger is the toppings. The burger was cold, over cooked, the bun was burnt, the egg was overcooked and cold and slimy. The fries were cold. And one of the toppings was missing. When we asked about it the waitress said she was out. Never had told us that before. THen my meal. I splurged and got a full meal and asked for the toppings on the side. The toppings were not on the side. In addition, the menu said that the meal came with beans, rice, sour cream and guacamole. The meal only came with beans, that again, looked like they had had the life sucked out of them and were cold. I didn't not finish those. THe burrito was cold, dry and had little sauce. The meal did not come with rice or sour cream or guac. When I asked about the other sides, she said those only come if asked. I paid almost $20 for a cold, hard burrito with nothing else? When the waitress finally came to see how we were, we didn't bother to say anything because of her lack of attention and knowledge. It was absolutely ridiculous. I have never ever been so angry and so disappointed at a restaurant in my life. We should have left our plates and walked out, but we had ordered food and it isn't right to do that. So we paid for our meal and gave a tip even though that is the last thing that was deserved. I don't know what kind of restaurant y'all are running, but it is awful. We were not the only people having issues. The lack of knowledge of knowing what was out of stock before ordering is ridiculous. Customers should know when ordering if something is out so that they can change their order if needed. Our stomachs have been upset since eating and I know it was your food since it is what I've been burping the NASTINESS for a day. I demand a refund for our order. We will NEVER and I mean, never order or recommend your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI like going takosushi. It's a small relaxing place to sit, have a glass of wine, a good meal, a friend or two, and watch the world go by.
I haven't tried many dishes because I like the Sumo soup so much. It's a rich broth with lots of veggies, noodles and several proteins like salmon, shrimp and clams. My wife likes the salmon quesadillas.
The service is good. Servers are clean, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about menu items. I'm really tired of servers complimenting me on my "good choice" in ordering. My last time at Tacoshushi our server sort of wrinkled her nose when I asked about a menu item. She said that it wasn't very good that particular day, because one of the ingredients wasn't delivered. That kind of honesty goes a long way with me.
They were very busy the last time I was there, so it took a while for our food to arrive, but it still wasn't long enough to raise my blood pressure.š
As for atmosphere, it's very comfortable. No blaring obnoxious music. I often wonder who in the world selects the play list and sets the volume of the music in restaurants.
Prices are a little bit on the high side, but not prohibitively high. And most importantly, the dinning experience, as a whole, is well...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe pros: the server was very nice, food came out promptly
The cons: they offer a gluten free menu but their staff isnāt well educated so be careful! They told me all sushi rolls were GF. I asked if the ones that have tempura in them are GF: no. I asked if the teriyaki sauce used in some is GF: no. I specifically asked the server to make down that I have a gluten allergy for the chef (I end up in the ER vomiting for hours if there is an accident). She said she would but low and behold, a roll with crab used imitation. I asked them to check and see if it had any wheat in it and it did. The chef had to look at the package so I guess he didnāt know either š¤·āāļø Surely, that would have been a catastrophe. We would have normally spoken up to management because itās a big deal but the server did feel bad and was very sweet and attentive otherwise. A suggestion for the establishment would be to get management involved with any allergies or theyāre going to end up on the ugly side of someone getting very sick (or donāt offer a gluten free menu!).
I donāt think we will be back because the food was ⦠just okay and not worth the song and dance of trying to make sure something is...
