OK disclaimer - I've only been to 2 productions so far, so my review is a work-in-progress based on limited experiences and i hope I'll be able to more positively revisit it in the near future.
However ... first, the actors do a super job and some of the singers are excellent. My gripe is mostly the choice of plays. The two I saw were soooooo dated - OLD British ones that were just boring and ... old. I actually left at intermission during the second one. I just couldn't sit thru any more of it. I know it costs money to get rights to put on a play but the calibre and enthusiasm of the actors SO deserves better, newer plays. The high schools do newer plays!
I'd certainly be willing to pay more for a ticket to something that was at least SOMEWHAT contemporary. I do plan to attend more plays but given the choice of productions it will mainly be because they are so cheap. I LOVE LOVE LOVE and am so proud of the fact that Aiken has this theatre and commend all the members who obviously work so hard on the plays but PLEASE spend the bucks to move into a more recent century with your selections.
