Southbound Smokehouse- Aiken — Restaurant in Aiken County

I come here all the time and for the first Sunday being open past 4pm and the fact the menu has grown since they first opened I have to say was definitely nice to have more options for food other than just the normal brunch menu. The food was amazing as always, yes there may have been a fly here or there but the doors were open I’m guessing to bring the customers in so I didn’t mind hahaha almost like being at an actual BBQ 😉, our server Ashley who had the same name as me so of course we had to laugh about that but she was absolutely awesome the entire time, very attentive to her tables and the way she moved around the dining room so effortlessly amazed me, definitely something I could never do without tripping on air lol. My husband and I will most definitely be coming back to this location again in the near future, even the manager misty coming around after everyone’s gotten their food and checking to see how everyone is enjoying it, that’s how you know they care about their establishment, and if at any time Ashley fell behind misty and Angela would help take out food, the team work in this restaurant is great. We were so excited to try this Smokehouse! We sat on the back patio and loved the vibe. Our server was less than friendly; he seemed generally annoyed by our presence or maybe that was just his demeanor. He barely spoke to us, vaped behind the bar, spilled one of our drinks as he handed it to us and just left it on the table with no napkins in sight. He came over as few times as possible. The mixed drinks were yummy, thankfully. The food was NOT. Pulled pork tasted like vinegar. The smoked chicken was rubbery and seemed reminiscent of cheap rotisserie chicken from any run of the mill grocery store with zero smoked flavor. The mac and cheese was fine and the only thing I ate on my plate. The shrimp tacos were very fishy with little other flavor. Our kids got chicken strips which were the only things served hot and tasted fine. The server did not at all care that our food was left uneaten, nor asked us how anything was. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would 🙂. You need to properly educate your bartenders on how to read an ID!!!! My friend went in here and handed the bartender her ID (which is vertical) she refused to accept the ID. Apparently what she doesn’t know is that you don’t have to replace your ID when you’re 21 you have to replace it when it EXPIRESSS. The funny thing is she’s probably older than the little blonde bartender who I couldn’t get her name since she was too busy slamming a door in my friends face and smashing her finger in it. But no worries because it’ll be really hard for her to get another job when Tailgate undoubtedly closes this place down since yall can’t even hire people with more than 2 brain cells.
