Stopped by today because my grandmother wanted to drop something off, and it was one of the most bizarre situations where staff was rude and irresponsible. I walked in and right away there appeared to be a bunch of young girls dressed up for a play who seemed to have the expectation of privacy by the surprised look on their face when we walked in. I felt I was intruding and walked out, tried to laugh off the situation by telling the guy standing at the door "I don't know what's going on in there, but I knew I didn't have any part in it" He replied to me in a very irritated tone "THEY'RE HAVING A TEE!" I really don't know the term or what it means but I just tried to be quiet and keep to myself outside of the entrance of the building. My brother cracked the entrance door back open and asked if I was coming in, I figured maybe I misunderstood the sentiment I felt about not being wanted to be there since in fairness IT IS A FACILITY THAT'S ADVERTISED AS BEING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! However, upon reentering the older woman working there was trying to tell us to keep quiet and get out of the way for whatever play they were using the entrance of their building as a backstage place for their young performers to be. I said "if you don't want me here, I'll leave! it doesn't matter to me!" and left and waited by my family's car until they decided to come out. I think the bizarre situation they mismanaged created a completely inappropriate situation for the performers who seemed to need privacy, as well as me the visitor to...
Read moreMy friend and I took our kids (8 altogether) to visit Aiken county historical museum the other week when it was really too hot to do anything outside. While I wouldn’t say it is necessarily the best place to take 8 energetic children if you actually want to enjoy all the exhibits, the staff there were very kind and thoughtful and did their best to guide us to the most kid friendly and interesting sections. The exhibits were very interesting and thoughtfully laid out, and I would love to go back to visit another day, maybe with just my older children, or one or two at a time. I would also love to go back to visit the grounds on a cooler day, the landscaping...
Read moreWonderful staff, they are absolutely delighted to tell you everything about Aiken. Great place to really get a good reading on the city in an effort to ascertain the present disposition of the general population. It's sort of this overlooked gem that contains some great information, ranging from the Antebellum period all the way to the current day. You may be surprised to learn that some of the people mentioned in those walls have family members that are now in the same positions of authority and high standing. I find the transfer of power along blood lines to be quite intriguing to...
