Today I visited La Doña Mexican Food Truck. I had no expectations as no one had ever said anything about it to me prior. I glanced at the menu on the side. As a Taco Whisperer I gravitate towards that perfect dish. The photos are of my second round as my first was inhaled before I had a chance to remember to snap some pics. I had four at first: Al pastor, carnitas, chorizo, pollo. Round two was a revisit to al pastor and the carnitas.
The tortillas were just crispy and oily enough, the meats were all delicious and plentiful, and the arrive was both quick and friendly. I missed having the pineapple on the al pastor, but I may have just eaten it so fast I didn't taste it. The carnitas had nice pieces of meat with tender fat. If that grosses you out, then you don't like real carnitas. The chorizo was cooked to order and was a good balance of crispy and soft. I also had esquites which was fresh corn with enough crema and cheese to last the whole cup along with a nice sized lime wedge, and they had spicy chili powder on hand which I used in copious amounts. To drink I had an horchata.
I will be back, probably this weekend. I want to try their gordita and torta.
I'm already dreaming...
Read moreI went to this food truck with high expectations due to its ratings on Google. However, do not be fooled by the ratings. I had an unpleasant experience here. My companions and I were handed a menu with inaccurate prices and food descriptions. Upon disputing the discrepancies regarding the menu, we were met with disrespect and nasty looks. My enchilada was supposed to be $8 according to the menu, but I paid $12 for an enchilada that did not have sour cream nor refried beans, which was detailed to be included in the meal on the menu we were handed. My companion got the gringa, and she was not informed that if she substituted her meat option, the meal would not come with everything listed on the menu. We are highly disappointed in the service we got, and we were not accommodated for the errors that were made on the restaurants side of the service. I will not come here again. Make sure you ask lots of questions if you decide to order anything...
Read moreI don’t know how this food truck has 4 stars this is probably the worst Mexican I ever had. I ordered the chicken enchiladas verde which is listed as being served with; lettuce, beans ,sour cream lettuce and cheese and priced at $8 and my bf had a steak burrito which was also listed as $8, we were charged almost $24. When I asked about the pricing I was told that it was a mistake on the menu, smh. Whatever we were hungry. The enchiladas were 3 soggy corn tortillas filled with bland chicken and drenched in green sauce that tastes like what you would buy in a jar at the supermarket and covered in lettuce and powdered cheese. No sour cream just cheese covered lettuce. The steak in burrito looked like something you would get in a frozen gas station burrito, bland and dry. No sour cream, onions or anything that even resembled a Mexican burrito was included just dry beef, bland rice and salad. We will never return to this food truck...
