Originally we had made reservations at Coopers Hawk. Unfortunately, they had our reservation in Orlando and we thought it was at Coopers Hawk in the Waterford Lakes mall. Since we were unwilling to drive into Orlando we decided to try something different. We decided on the Mellow Mushroom on E. Colonial Dr. It was shortly after 6 pm when we arrived last evening (12/11) and there were plenty of tables. We were a party of 6. We were seated right away and ordered our drinks. While we were waiting we scanned the menu and decided on two pizzas, the NEW Steakhouse Pizza and the Holy Shiitake pizza. We also ordered the Spinach salad with an apple-flavored dressingā¦fantastic! The pizzas were served piping hot and they were both delicious. The new Steakhouse pizza had a bit of heat to it, but it was very good, as was the Holy Shiitake mushroom pizza. In addition, the wines were all 1/2 price, so we enjoyed some wine with our pizzas. As for the service, I can't say enough good things about the waitstaff! Our server (sorry, I didn't get her name) was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, so when we asked about certain items she was able to answer all of our questions.
If you have not been to a Mellow Mushroom for pizza you MUST put it on your āto go toā restaurants list. The pizza crust could be ordered thin or thick, but either way it is delicious and crispy. We will be sure to visit again because there are other items we saw on the menu which we want to try, especially the Magic Mushroom soup!
All six of our group give the Mellow Mushroom restaurant 5 stars AND...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am writing this review because I was so moved by the customer service I experienced here that I wanted to share it. I ordered delivery of a lunch calzone from the mellow mushroom website which uses DoorDash for delivery. My experience on the site and with checkout was smooth, but thatās where it stopped. Once the order is placed I receive notice of how to track my food, then my order is picked up but doesnāt show up, I called they said it was on its way to me, then shortly after that conversation I received notice that DoorDash cancelled the order. Finally, I receive another notice that my food is being remade and will be picked up by someone else so I called the restaurant to find out what was going and spoke to some of the nicest people that were very apologetic, the manager explained everything and apologized but I had to cancel my food and get a refund because it had been almost an hour and I had already missed my thirty minute lunch break. The best part of the story is next, about 15 minutes or so after I got off the phone with the restaurant, the MANAGER from Mellow Mushroom personally showed up at my workplace with a hot, fresh and complimentary calzone. I was so stunned I almost didnāt know what to say, I have never received such above and beyond customer service before in my life. I want to thank mellow mushroom for taking care of the customer, I will be back and plan to tell everyone about my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo let me preface this review with something that's going to make a lot of people mad at me. I hate Mellow Mushroom's crust. I hate it. I've tried it like three times, and it always sucks. So I came here with my girlfriend one night for one last idea, I asked for my crust to be thinner and crispier. The server agreed, and I was hopeful that my pizza toppings weren't gonna come out on a loaf of bread like they usually do.
Speaking of pizza toppings, we got the Thai Dye (Olive oil and garlic base, all-natural curry chicken, mozzarella, roma tomatoes, onions. Topped with fresh basil, cucumbers and a sweet swirl of Thai chili sauce). The quality of the chicken and the tomatoes and the cucumbers all topped with that sauce made this one of the best quality pizza pies that I have eaten in a very long time. With this new and improved crust idea, I think I will be frequenting this place for the rest of life now.
Another one of the reasons that I will frequent this place is because of a special night they have. It's like poor college student Thursdays or something. They had two dollar half-apps, so we got the Bruchetta (Diced tomatoes, basil and seasonings tossed in balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Topped with feta and fresh basil, served on garlic toast points and drizzled with a balsamic glaze). It came with three pieces instead of the usual five, but it was only two dollars, so it was worth...
