It's Friday night and I'm feeling lazy so I wanted to order delivery. 1st off... $15min delivery so I ordered a combo and added some krabmeat rangoon to meet my minimum they were $5. Let me start by the delivery time... it took almost an hour and a half to get my food. I ordered online and paid with a card so I added the tip online as well. When my food got here the price was different on the receipt then what I saw online and guess what?.. that extra money was added to the tip!! without my permission... extra tip? for an hour and a half wait time... but w.e I was hungry so I go sit down and take out my food... I open the box of krab rangoon... A DEAD FLY!!! no joke. I should have taken a picture. So those went out, plus they looked dry and not cooked all the way and they were cold..like my food. The combo was alright just like any other Chinese restaurant. However I know I could have paid less for better quality somewhere else. This isn't the first time I've eaten here but it is definitely my last. Overpriced to begin with then they charge you extra without saying. By the way I called to express my concern and the manager did not care that there was a bug in my food. Apparently that's okay if they are busy....
Read moreAnybody who says they got bad quality food at Luya must've either been really unlucky or really picky about their food. This isn't a fancy high-class restaurant, obviously, but the people who work there are nice and recognize you if you come enough. Their General Tso's chicken has real peppers in it, it tastes great every time and is a must try. Their Orange Chicken has actual orange shavings in it, and instead of tasting overly sugary you get a taste of orange you usually don't find in your typical chinese fast food place. They are almost always blazing fast with your order, even if they say 10-15 min it comes out usually in 7-10 mins.
If you're at UCF, compare their food with the Asian Chao place in the food court, Asian Chao is more expensive and tastes worse. For example, just compare their orange chicken, Asian Chao gives you that sugary stuff that's standard fare for some fast food joint, Luya gives you some real orange chicken with a bunch of rice and egg roll or soup if you take their Lunch Combination Special.
Give the place a try, it's my favorite spot near campus for Chinese food and they offer their lunch special at all hours to students with ID (just ask for student...
Read moreMaybe until now, I've just had bad Chinese food- but I can say for certain this is the best I've had. I ordered the krabmeat rangoon and Orange Chicken combination. The rangoons were the most flavorful I've had, lots of filling instead of the 90% wonton wrapper I'm used to, and the orange chicken is seasoned really well. Not your average sickly sweet orange chicken. I was curious when I saw it was labeled 'spicy' but it leaves a really pleasant tingle in your mouth! The chicken itself is also very tender and nice, not stringy or tough like I've had at some places. The egg fried rice has a lot more flavor and a nicer texture than I've had before. I'm also not usually a fan of egg rolls but I enjoyed this one a lot. I ate it and three of the rangoons, along with a bit of the soup, and felt pretty close to full after not eating all day. Massive, flavorful, filling portions. I will return. :) (my order also arrived 30 minutes early if this review doesn't show how...
