I love sushi. And when I say “I love sushi” I mean that I could happily live out the rest of my life having sushi for breakfast, lunch, dinner, teatime, snack-time, Thanksgiving, midnight munchies… Oh, and second breakfast, too. So when I heard about the Sus Hi Eatstation in eastern Orlando, you might say my curiosity was rather piqued. Here was a little shop-side, take-out-or-dine-in, sushi eatery. With expressive, enthusiastic staff members and a wide variety of proteins, bases, and toppings to craft your own sushi, Sus Hi Eatstation appears to be the child of a successful marriage between Panda Express and Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. As I stood in line, baffled by whether to choose salmon or tuna, mango or scallions, white or eel sauce, I was politely reminded that I could choose as many ingredients as I wanted at no additional cost (with only a few exceptions). My first visit to Sus Hi yielded a white rice bowl with salmon and tuna, scallions, mangos, cream cheese, tempura flakes, cheese (melted, I’ll get to that later), avocado, pickled ginger, peanuts, and bacon, and topped with eel and white sauce. Yes, it tasted as good as it sounds. Each ingredient dripped of freshness and tasted equivocally crisp. Since then, I have returned time and again to satisfy my sushi needs. But what’s nice about Sus Hi is that the customization is nearly endless. Their menus proudly state, “We will accommodate YOUR STYLE” and, boy, do they mean it. Want more than one protein in your mix? No problem. You can have up to three at no additional costs. Want cream cheese with that? It’s also free. Want a sauce… or two… or three? All free. In fact, the only additional costs come from such specialties as avocado, masago, and seaweed salad. You can tempura anything—rolls, wraps, proteins, avocado, anything—for only one additional dollar. If you love your toppings and sauces on thick, Sus Hi offers over twenty of each in order to satisfy your inner ninja. Not only that, but Sus Hi is crafted with the individual in mind. If you’re vegan, Sus Hi offers a wide-ranged variety of vegan and vegetarian options, even citing on their menus that “Most ingredients are vegetarian and many are vegan.” Sus Hi even offers a special “Vegan Ninja” roll. For those seeking apatizers, Sus Hi provides such sides as edamame, miso soup, egg rolls, krab rangoons, and more. My personal go-to is their Loaded Rice Fries, which are deep free rice/seaweed patties sprinkled with bacon and scallions, then blowtorched with melted cheese. Jalapenos optional! What makes Sus Hi an experience, however, is its Eatstation culture. When you step into Sus Hi, you are immediately pulled into a roleplay of sorts where you are the ninja and the staff are eager to serve; I’m not joking. Staff members are literally required to address you—the customer—as “ninja.” As in, “How can I help you, ninja?” and “May I have the next ninja, please?” If you happen to want your cheese melted, the staff member will whip out a mini blowtorch and flame your calcium-coated dish, while shouting “Fire!” Whether or not you’re in the roleplaying mood, Sus Hi staff are happy to serve, and the barrage of panoramic sushi photography and dining-table-sized shiruken plastered on the ceiling (or embedded in the wooden signs hanging from the roof) certainly help convey that “ninja” spirit. Sus Hi is all about fun and experience. The food is grand, the variety is nearly endless, and the price is right. If you take courses at UCF, or are in the Orlando area, this is an ideal place to stop for lunch or dinner. Next time you feel the craving for sushi—rolled traditionally, loose in the bowl, bundled in a wrap, or otherwise—tie on your ninja headband and head to Sus Hi.

I used to LOVE this place when I ate seafood. Going back as a vegan was disappointing. :'( I walked in, and there was no one in line. I ordered a build your own bowl with white rice and tofu, but they were out of tofu so I had to wait while they made more. No biggie. As I started ordering my veggies, a large group came in and I felt rushed. By the time I got to the toppings, I was frustrated because I didn't know which ones were vegan (I didn't see any labels.), and I didn't want to sit there and ask if that or that or that was vegan. Labels would've been super helpful. The associate gave me 2 containers of sauces to take home with my meal- ponzu & I can't remember the name of the other. They were both good though. I had to tell each associate that I was waiting on tofu, which was annoying because they were in such a hurry to bag up my meal and get me out of the line. I paid for my meal while still waiting on the tofu. When the tofu finally arrived, I was kinda disappointed in the amount given considering you're allowed to choose up to 3 proteins for your bowl. Since you're only offering 1 vegan protein, you should at least double or triple the amount served. I paid $10 for a really lacking meal. It tasted fine. Everything was fresh. The associate who started my order even offered to change their gloves, which was a kind gesture. I politely declined because it's not a big deal to me & I view it as a waste of plastic. I probably won't be back, unless I receive some tips on how to order from here as a vegan because I wasn't impressed.

We ordered delivery last week and didn't have a great first experience. Even though the app recommends "sauce on top", I would discourage this for delivery because there was way too much, and it made the rolls messy. They just fell apart. Plus our dumplings were barely even warm. I left my review on the UE app and was sent a coupon from the restaurant shortly thereafter. I decided to use it today and it was a HUGE improvement! I ordered the truffle nori tots and a create your own burrito. Everything tasted fresh, had good temps and was still crispy. My burrito had the garlic brown rice and was tempura fried. The outside was crispy but not oily and the vegetables inside were fresh and crunchy. That brown rice is really flavorful too! I only wish the avocado was bigger because it was not really noticeable. Nori tots are a fun snack and tasted good in each of the 3 sauces I tried, but especially the sweet soy. I appreciated the opportunity to give the place another shot, and I am glad I did. P.S. the serving size of nori tots is actually double what my picture shows. I could not stop eating them :P

Omg. This is my new favorite food spot!! It's so close to my house and you get a lot for your money! I have a two main reasons why you should go here...

#1 Staff & Atmosphere -The staff was so so awesome and helpful (made sure they met every need)! -The girl that was serving me really helped me decide what I want (I'm very indecisive) and even another member of the staff helped me decide on choices I wasn't sure about. -The place is very organized and very clean! -The energy as soon as you walk in the door is like no where else I've ever been to. (I wish I could work here cause the staff seemed to get along really well and they all seemed happy to be working there) -The overall "vibe" of the place is something you wont find anywhere else. As soon as you walk in they greet you and when you leave they make sure to say good bye.

#2 THE FOOD!!! -I was recommended to come here by my sister and I was like I'm CRAVING sushi and she reccomended this spot and I'm kinda tight in budget but as soon as I saw that "$" sign on Google I knew it was destiny. -I was NOT expecting how much choices they really had! They had something to satisfy everyone's needs from spicy to sweet and from crunchy to soft. -I was super indecisive about everything (especially on the first step which is choosing your base) so she recommended giving me half white rice And half brown rice and I have NO REGRETS. They even have a spring mix options for those not into rice. they have lots of protien choices it was so hard to choose but everything was HIGH QUALITY and fresh. They mixed my 3 favorites things spicy tuna, salmon, and krab. they put extra sauce if you want, that's important to me cause i actually LOVE spicy mayo, white sauce, and soy sauce. Together they make the greatest combo like me and this sushi spot. -The portions were way bigger than I was expecting but i am DEFINIETLY NOT COMPLAINING. I got lunch for two days and dinner for one night. I could eat their bowls all day and night and still be ready for more. And I only spent $9.53!! Literally WHAT?!?! THAT'S AMAZING.

TO WRAP IT UP (hehe like a sushi roll)!!!

So I got the receipt and just wanted to shout out "Sensei Thunder" because you definitely left a great impression. I'll be coming back here very soon and probably more than I need to but still, no regrets. I'm reccomending this place to everyone that loves sushi or food in general. I can't believe I was going to pass you guys up for some lame chicken tenders. I want to try everything and can't wait to. Thank you Sus Hi!!

if you're reading the comments debating whether you should go... just do it, it'll be worth your time...

NEVER GOING BACK!

This place is just not worth the trip. It is definitely the 'Asian Chipolte' that so many other have said. That's actually the reason why I tried this place back and January and came back again today. The plethora of options available to the customer can be a little overwhelming at first, but absolutely amazing when you realize all the possible delicious combinations available to you for such a low price.

Unfortunately, the lack of attention to detail paid to the customer requests with no follow-up heavily outweighs the food price/quality value. Let me elaborate.

I made a request for a side order of dumplings with the first employee on the line who started my order. While working on my rice bowl, he repeated back my request for dumplings to which I said 'yes, 1 order of dumplings as well please'. I was then passed along to the next employee who added toppings onto my bowl and then passed again to a third employee who added the sauce to my bowl.
