I'm gonna break this down into chapters because there is a lot to unpack about Saucy by KFC.
Chapter 1: The Saucy Experience Walking up to the building I was excited to enjoy what Saucy had to offer. I enjoyed the pink color scheme of the outside and interior design of the venue, however, once I walked in it felt like I was right at home with the messy floors, college students taking tables while one person ordered food, big backs like me staring at the order kiosks waiting for their name to be called. Yep it was definitely UCF territory. Once inside, I noticed the self service order kiosks and went over to order. I submitted my order at 7:04 PM and saw my name on the screen. My friend and I were excited to try all what we order until....
(SpongeBob narrator voice) ...One hour Later...
At around 7:59 an employee (we will call her Lady no-name as none of the employees had any nametags) told me that they ran out of bread for the sandwich we order. She offered us additional chicken tenders instead and we accepted. At 8:20PM we finally got our bag from a mister no name and noticed that I only received half of the sauces that I paid for. I went back to the pick up area and a guy in a vest (I call him Big No name cuz he looks like the manager of this place since he really wasn't doing anything) walked by me. I simply said you work here and he goes no. I simply said then why are you in the kitchen. He then asks what I wanted and said the list of sauces I am missing. He then proceeds to tell me that they are out of those and to choose something else. Instead of arguing I asked him to give me the ones that he had that are available and he gave me two of each. I left with my friend to go eat in the car.
Chapter 2: The food Here is what me and my friend ordered: A 6 piece tender combo, one Classic sammie (because it's a cool name), a hot honey watermelon and a Passion fruit/orange/guava refresher. We also order every sauce except teriyaki and ranch (you know basic). Let's break this down:
A. THE TENDER - overcooked, dry, still had the 11 herbs and spices tho
B. Fries - crinkle cut sadness felt like they made a big load of them and left them under a heat lamp for an hour till they sorted out the orders
C. Sauces (Again, these are the sauces that were only available) Jalapeño pesto Ranch- tasted more pesto than anything else. Chunky yet decent Spicy mango chutney- the most doable sauce for the dry tender. It brought out the juciness of the mango and the spices to bring this tender to life. Thai Sweet n spicy- tasted more gochujang mixed with sweet Thai chili. But it gave the chicken some flavor Creole Honey mustard- They went to Popeyes and stole their sauce Smokey bacon ranch- They went to chikfila and stole their sauce Saucy sauce- name change from their finger licking good sauce
D. Drinks- POG refresher- straight liquefied candy in a drink
Hot honey watermelon- gagged and immediately threw it away. There were trying to do a Chamoy Watermelon drink but for white people and did not work.
Chapter 3: Is it Saucy? My overall takeaway from this was that KFC needs to learn alot from chicken tender places like Raising Canes, Zaxbys, and Huey magoos. This place is trying to make changes to something that is already simple and easy to make. Try not to spice things up for white people since they are gonna for some ranch and honey mustard when they order their chicken tenders anyway. So is it really Saucy? Yes, but in a not...
Read moreWe tried Saucy after 9 days of being open to hope to have a less than new restaurant experience. Our suggestion is to wait another month. We ordered our food from the kiosk and paid for it right there. We proceeded to wait in a restaurant filled with people shoulder to shoulder for over an hour and 15 minutes before we can get our food. They were limited in staff , but everyone was hustling and trying their hardest to put out the food. The management was the main reason for the poor experience. They did not do anything to influence the long wait for in house guests. They did not turn off mobile orders, or close down the drive thru, but instead prioritized their orders to the people waiting inside. In a 30 minite period we watched 16 drive thru cars and 11 mobile orders made to a total of 6 in house orders. All of those 11 mobile orders were there for over 30 minutes and never picked up and something that was not being noticed by the staff as they kept piling them up. Management never did anything to improve the speed of in house orders that had far too many people in it from a fire code perspective. There were spills in the dining room that were never taken care of and trash cans overflowing with trash for the the entire tine we were there. When we received our food, one of our orders were wrong and all of our drinks were watered down as ice had melted. The food itself was pretty good. Chicken wasn't as good as a Huey Magoos or Raisin Cane's but it was definitely good enough to try again. The sauces had some hits and misses. The bacon ranch was pretty good as was the teriyaki. The Sweet Thai wasn't as good as I would have expected as it was a bit too thick. I want to say that the expo lady, the girl with the ring above the crown of the nose and Manny who was on the food line did a great job under the circumstances. I will try again in a month and hope things improve. Hopefully management can be more proactive in understanding how to make decisions that can help the situation. When you clearly can not handle all 3 phases of the volume of business, being able to make the call to lower your volume temporarily until you can handle it again is something that they should have the...
Read moreExcuse any errors in my spelling for i’m using translate app. I would like to point out how much my view on the store has changed since my visit earlier today. As one of many consumers i checked the reviews to find good food for me and my mother to eat out together and i came across saucy by kfc on facebook and reading all these bad reviews on their service and wait time and even some on their food made me and my mom want to come and try it for ourselves since us ourselves own a restaurant in our home country. We arrived and the surroundings seemed fairly cleaned for a american fast food shop and i go to the tablets and order the pretty basic but well made menu which had bread, chicken tenders and many different refreshers and even tea and desserts that go by the name of can of cakes. I tried each of everything except for the drinks. Ordering was no issue at all and completely easy and a young woman by the name of Isabella came to us with a smile and a great conversation with lots of respect and manners and it made me think about the reviews and realized i should come to you guys and also tell you about my amazing experience. The wait time wasn’t too long but as the young woman seem to go to attend to another customer I didn’t want to bother her so I went to the front for a refill on my drink and I couldn’t find anyone that spoke spanish until I see a young man that went by the name of kevin come out from the back looking busy stopped and came to me and not only attended me by reminding me that the refreshers aren’t refillable he also refilled me without charge while he also welcomed me and my mother with very respectful tone the entire time even though i was a spanish speaker which i feel very grateful to these workers who showed me great customer service is still a top priority in some restaurants. I want to add and be fair the only issue with my entire experience is the issue i was missing a few sauces but again the young man from earlier assisted me but the most important and my best compliment was how good the food is. Seemed fresh hot and not dry at all chicken with very tasty fries! Thank you saucy. will...
