I normally don’t sit and give a review but I see how great the reviews for this restaurant were and thought oh heck no this is not an almost five star restaurant. So here goes; I took my husband here for his birthday. The atmosphere is beautiful which is why I gave it a five star for atmosphere. Very pretty set up although the seats were a bit uncomfortable. Cushion is a bit worn so they were a bit uncomfortable. Food, I gave it a two star. My husband ordered pernil with rice and beans. Although the food had good flavor the pernil was soaked in a bowl with its juices of oil., which initially was a total turn off. I got a mofongo with seafood. The only seafood in that dish that was good to eat was the clams which only had about three pieces. Everything else like the shrimp, octopus, calamari and prong was tough. Not fresh at all. It was a bit disheartening that they would even serve seafood that way. I wasn’t trying to get a free meal and really don’t like to complain in a restaurant so we ate the most we could from our dishes that night. To sit and pay 120 dollars and we didn’t even order an alcohol beverage. We got two cokes and a virgin piña colada. Honestly I can go to Lechonera Latina and have a better meal and pay way less. Service I gave that a one star and still gave her a 15% tip. Although the server was pleasant, I asked her for the check and she came and handed it directly to my husband. That’s a no no. I guess she’s one of those people that think only men should pay when taking out a woman. It’s 2025 times have changed and I took him out for his birthday not the other way around. To our surprise, we were not allowed to sit down, despite having already paid for our meal. The staff's refusal to accommodate our simple request was both surprising and frustrating. It's disappointing that a restaurant would turn away paying customers, especially when they have the capacity to serve them. I decided to speak with the manager instead of doing a review, but the manager said that it would make other customers uncomfortable if we sat inside with our order and that they could not accommodate us at the time that we were there when there was literally no one in the dining area and told me to come back with our food and they will now seat us inside, this was 2 hours later... They are very unprofessional and unwelcoming.

Read moreThey say it’s best not to write a review while being upset but after waiting for more than a half hour to put in an order for take out I am furious! There’s no reason under God’s blue sky I had to hear conversations by the employees as I was asked to hold for a moment. The employee didn’t even have the courtesy to ask if I was still on the line. After 30 minutes someone picked up the phone and hung up! When I called back I asked for the manager. Truth be told I don’t want her to get in trouble but maybe a little training on customer service would help. After speaking to the manager, Luis and he apologizing I was not satisfied with the outcome. I hate to see a somewhat good restaurant go out of business for the way their customers are treated. But with so many restaurants to choose from you need to step up to the plate and do better. I will not be ordering from you because I have lost my trust in you.
