Summer Palace — Restaurant in Alafaya

Recently, during the month of December 2023, I had ordered chicken and rice soup. It was the worst chicken and rice soup that I had ever tasted. As a military retiree, and have traveled all over the world this soup just didn’t meet my standard of deliciousness. The rice was mushy and soggy. The chicken tasted old. The “crunchies”that, they give you for soup was completely stale! After a couple of days from recovering from an illness, and as a regular customer, I returned the soup in hopes that the restaurant would give me a chicken noodle soup in place of the chicken and rice soup. In my previous experiences, I would order their chicken noodle soup or just the broth to help to advance my wellness and make me feel better. This particular time, I decided to try a different soup. So, when I bought the chicken and rice soup back to the restaurant to swap for the chicken noodle soup, I even offered to pay the difference between the soups. The lady that worked at the front desk had a very nasty and unprofessional attitude with me which became out of control and unnecessary! I ask for her name and she hesitated before swiftly uttering her name to me knowing that I could not pronounce her name much less spell her name. I asked for the manager and of course there was no manager available. I asked for the name of her manager and she stated, “Sunny.” Of course she did not give me any more information like when will the manager be available? All of this over a bowl of soup? Are you kidding me? Due to the wicked treatment I received for a bowl of soup, I will not patronize this business ever again! I will pass on to my military family and friends this horrific, unforgettable racist experience that I endured once again from this establishment and from the same older lady that works at the register and places your...

This was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. My order was not done at, or near the estimated time of thirty minutes. When I arrived I was told they just got the order, the lady started to argue with me but then realized the order was placed when I said. They asked me to take a seat. I was told to move twice while I continued to wait. As I was sitting there another customer came in returning her food. She was a regular customer of theirs and was returning instead of exchanging. As the confrontation increased it came out that over the phone they had accused her of ordering the wrong thing. She calmly stated that she ordered what she normally does and they gave her the wrong item. They finally gave her a refund. After she left they proceeded to openly mock and complain about this customer that to their admission was a regular. This was done in front of the whole restaurant of full of customers.

The sushi chef was the cause of the delay in order preparation. He has one speed and that is slow. He was wandering around, not focused on his job and didn't seem to care that he was causing the back log of orders. When he finally finished our order, over an hour had passed. Thirty minutes of that I spent sitting there watching him.

This place does have good food but they need lessons in customer service and...

Pretty sporadic experiences here really. Ordered online a few times for pick up, their website is very confusing and difficult to comprehend. Did get a good sweet and sour chicken one or two times, but the next time they were out of chicken, the time after that it didn't taste fresh. They offered to make another better portion without explaining how this next one would be better and why the first one wasn't....that was the end of it for me. These kids up front need to brush up on their english pronounciation skills. "Siiisowchi" apparently means "sweet and sour chicken". Just that thing...having great difficulties communicating with the provider of a service isn't a recipe for a good start. All in all, they can definitely make good food but sometimes slip a little, the place looks nice and is clean and well kept, they do intend to provide good service but need to improve the communication online...
