Ok. Now I LOVE Krispy Kreme donuts. I moved here from Atlanta, Georgia and in Atlanta, Krispy Kreme won the donut war decades ago, and for good reason: There is nothing better on this entire planet than a fresh, hot, Krispy Kreme plain glazed donut. That is a fact, and it is indisputable.
Unfortunately, I have yet to purchase what turns out to be a fresh, hot, donut of any kind at the Anchorage location of this Southern donut institution in the half dozen or more times I have driven over there from the west side of town. In fact, the last time I went to Krispy Kreme here in town, I ordered a dozen plain glazed donuts and, because of prior disappointments, specifically asked that they be from the freshest batch. Sadly, however, when I got them home, opened the box and took the first bite, it was plain to me that this box of donuts, which was purchased at about 4 in the afternoon, had been placed in the box at BEST in the early morning hours...and most probably the day before. They were hard and stale, but at the same time soggy on the surface from the glaze soaking in to the donut. They were so bad that not even the 8 seconds in the microwave trick could make them edible. The entire box went in the trash.
In the South, Krispy Kreme would have NEVER let this box of donuts out the front door of one of their shops...but I guess that in Anchorage, where there are so many people who do not really know their Krispy Kreme's, they think that this kind of nonsense will past muster.
They are WRONG.
Sorry Krispy Kreme. We Southerners know very well what a fresh Krispy Kreme donut is supposed to look like and taste like. And what you are doing to the Krispy Kreme name here in Alaska is a mortal sin, I tell you!!!!
Just because we are thousands of miles from North Carolina doesn't mean EVERYONE here is a Krispy Kreme n00b!!! Some of us are frakkin connoisseurs of your product, in fact. And we would rather wait for our next trip south to experience the bliss of a FRESH donut than sully the memories of a lifetime on the craptacular 'donuts' you are churning out to a population you think is too stupid to know they are not getting anything remotely close to a real Krispy Kreme donut experience.
You make me embarrassed that I went on for years to all my friends here about how great Krispy Kreme was. None of them are seeing the greatness I gushed about for years, and that pisses me off! So get your act together out there and start doing Krispy...
Read moreOnly Drive-thru was open. No original iced, no chocolate iced, no strawberry iced.... This is a donut place. Okay, we ordered chocolate iced with sprinkles and strawberry iced with SPRINKLES ASWELL. Because sprinkles add extra money don't they... Anyways, I pull up to pay, give my card. Says declined, I was like oh well it's fine I have an estonian bank card and it actually was closed back in may because of this Krispy Kreme. My partner gives his card and thats declined aswell and that little boy basically laughs in our face and acts like we are broke and is super rude/ tried to act higher than us. We give him money and then he says along the lines that not too long ago their systems were down.. My questions are. Why weren't there Original glazed donuts, thats what you are known for? If your systems have been down why don't you let the customers know politely? Little note to the boy working at the drive through, don't ever act like you are better than someone I can bet you that it won't get you far in this life.
PS fix your systems. We got the bad experience ...
Read moreWent in for the 25% off chocolate dozen with purchase of any dozen promo. Tried to purchase online but kept getting an error with the code even though it showed the coupon banner at the top of the order screen. Inside the store I was told they were not participating. Not happy but ordered a half dozen so the kids weren't disappointed. Went back online and used the search function that KK has to find participating franchises. The one that refused to honor the deal was listed as participating.
In addition to that, the employees were less than enthusiastic. One kid was running both the counter and the register. Several other employees were there ignoring customers. Two seemed to be cleaning or repairing the conveyor. This location seems to have employee problems that the manager/owner really need to get on top of as it is costing them money. I was going to spend more than double what I ended up spending if it hadn't been for the employee apparently not knowing about the promotion. Instead I left with a small order and unhappy and not likely to return...
