Oriental Garden — Restaurant in Alaska

I ordered from here to have one plate of food and one serving of soup. It took five phone calls. One of which resulted in an abrupt hang up while on hold, two went straight to voicemail. When we used a different phone it was still a pain to explain their own menu to the operator. I ordered the kung pao chicken sesame chicken combo. The operator repeated my order back to me, said it wasn’t enough money to deliver and hung up on me before I could make the choice to add soup to the order. Very rude. Once I called back to complete my order I had an hour wait time to look forward to. The delivery driver arrived by walking through the wrong door of my building and wondering the halls. Now the building manager is angry with me for the delivery driver lacking intelligence and the ability to follow directions. I received my food and he was nice enough. I opened my food in my room and I had the wrong order. I received shrimp instead of chicken. I am allergic to shellfish. I gave the establishment a call and met the same operator who took my order. She was confused and had me explain multiple times. She told me I was supposed to drive to the establishment, she told me I ordered the wrong thing, and she told me the shrimp is the same price as the chicken. The shrimp was more expensive than the chicken. When I told her I would never have ordered shrimp she started yelling at someone in the restaurant and someone new answered my call. This someone new actually understands costumer service and helped me out. Horrible experience. My friends, family, and I will never order from this establishment.

Update: My partner tried eating the shrimp and the shrimp still had all of its veins. We love proper...

The food is just OK. They serve food in styrofoam which I haven’t seen in a very long time. Didn’t know restaurants still used styrofoam. Typical unhealthy, cheapest ingredients American style Chinese food, but that’s to be expected. The shrimp were not fully cleaned so expect to be deveining and pulling dirty intestines from shrimp before you eat them, unless you don’t care. What I appreciate is that the place is open until midnight. When my husband picked up the food, he said the staff was friendly. If you want delivery to downtown Anchorage there is a $10 fee for a 13 minute drive that doesn’t include the delivery tip. That’s ridiculous. The food is very expensive! For Singapore rice noodles, sweet and sour pork and GT chicken we paid $68. No appetizers, drinks or desserts. Go in with low expectations as we did and you’ll be fine.

I initially gave this place 3 stars which I though was fair for what they served, friendly service and the fact that I didn’t expect much more. Lowered my rating due to owner response. I left a kind review and you were not honest. I asked to replace white rice with fried rice which is not two extra sides because you did not give me white rice in my order, and it comes to 5 items not 6. It doesn’t cost $5 in gas to drive from your location to downtown Anchorage and you charge $10 for downtown delivery not including the tip. I will definitely be disputing this charge to my credit card company what a shambles of a business Horrible customer service the lady answering the phones sounded like she was high on drugs or something took 20 minutes just to get her to get the order right in between her singing to the radio and talking to herself ,I was told 1hour and 2 hours later after I had to call from a different phone because they wouldn’t answer the call on my phone food still hasn’t left for delivery to us when we were told that it had already went out almost an hour ago.save your money and go somewhere else dishonest employees and service is the worst this business will lie to you for hours then the food is cold and still took another hour before it came.then it was thrown into the bag and food was spilled inside the bag rude delivery driver I showed him the food in the bottom of the bags and he shrugged his shoulders and said “what do you want me to do about it”I am sure the restaurant just scooped our food into the bottom of the bags right because that’s what they do .not an irresponsible delivery driver that spilled our food and just didn’t care at all then he takes off honking his horn all of this while we are on vacation in a rv park at 11:30 at night !!this business needs to be shutdown by the city!!!!!will be filing a complaint...
