I've been sending people here for years and last night I regretted that. I took a couple of tourists to experience the awesome local venue and it was not awesome. Our server was obviously high, she kept twitching and was very nervous and couldn't focus, she told us way too much about her night, apparently it was going poorly. I thought that she may be new to serving, nope, she's been a server for at least 10 years. That's fine maybe just an off night. Then the server from an adjoining section stopped by for ketchup bottles (she set her tray for collecting them right in one of my companions elbow space so he had to move over for her) we asked her how her night was going and she said she'd had better, it's pretty bad. Come to find out that she felt she had been shorted on a tip. She left and went to complain with our server. We had turned our table tvs volume up (our server had come over and started to turn it back down. We stopped her and she let us know how she didn't like TVs on tables) so we couldn't hear them complaining. I accidentally caught our server's eye during their discussion so she came over and let us know about the other girls short tip as well as how there is no teamwork in the restaurant. We didn't need nor want to know any of this. That was just service, now the food. It took 4 trips to the table for our server to even offer drinks, which she did, as she took our food order. One of my companions wanted to try the different wing sauces, our server had to be convinced that this was ok. She started out telling us she couldn't do that and then tried to charge 50 cents a sample before we finally convinced her to get a manager permission. When the food arrived not only were my friends wings cold but they were short, meaning they didn't give us a full order. The chicken on my sandwich was not only burnt but had obviously been cooked earlier and held for future orders and my other companion had asked for a side of chili fries as well as his fries with his sandwich, he only received chili fries, however was charged for both, they did however, place my fries on his plate. It was not a great experience and I doubt I'll be sending people back. I'm not sure what happened but I hope this place gets it's stuff back together, it used to be a great place with...
Read moreBeen a long time patron over the last 15 years and it seems as if, especially the last couple years, the quality of the food has dropped exponentially. No longer are the days of getting wings that are perfectly fried and covered in an ample amount of sauce. Now, the consistent product out of the kitchen is wings that are just barely cooked to temperature that seemingly have an essence of sauce coated on them without a whole lot of deviation of spiciness beyond level two. It's a shame to see the fall from grace, as the three and four alarm used to be a staple with some tangible substance. It just feels like corners are being cut and the end product coming out of the kitchen is identical to what would be considered standard for an abbreviated school lunch of sorts in terms of quality. There's just not any incentive other than atmosphere and alcohol which are still solid draws to the facility. With a little bit of attention to the overall output quality from the kitchen, and an exercise in no longer hunting for bargains but actually delivering a valuable product, retention of customers will increase, consumption of alcohol will increase, and all of that collectively will drive up revenue. I would avoid this place if you're actually looking for something solid to eat, as the other competitors in this market locally completely outclass The Peanut Farm unfortunately. As a prerequisite response to the message deodorant is absolutely going to post, I would encourage them to call and place an anonymous order for wings to-go from this facility and any other local venue and...
Read moreWent to Peanut Farm on 18Apr2014 for an NHL game. I was happy to see that they already had the game that I wanted on and on multiple TVs. This place really does have a lot of screens - LEDs and projectors all over the place so it should be easy to find a place to watch what you want. It is self-seating only as far as I could tell. The colors on the projectors are a little washed out on the white paint but that's not really the fault of this business.
I was able to find a seat at the bar very easily but I was glad that I got there a little bit ahead of time (about 3:15 for a 3:30 game) because it did start to get busy later in the afternoon. The bartender took a few minutes to notice me, though I didn't really care because I was watching pre-game coverage. When the bartender finally made it over she apologized for not getting to me sooner and seemed pretty friendly. She got me a beer right away once I had ordered. I believe they have around a dozen beers on tap from breweries such as Pyramid, Midnight Sun and Deschutes. Their large beers are 25 oz so be ready for that!
The only food that I got was a basket of onion rings with ketchup and ranch. They were OK, probably bagged/frozen and nothing special. This is where the review loses a star because it is pretty easy to make good onion rings in house.
Bill was about $35 for 4 beers (one large), onion rings and 20% tip. It is a little pricey but I understand that's how things are here.
Anyway I was pretty happy with this place being as it was the first sports bar in Anchorage that I had been to. I will...
