Hotel itself is nice, clean and sound. Has a small swimming pool and fitness room. It's laundry shop equipped with two pairs of washer/dryer(2 US Dollar for each cycle--and the machines are fine ). Inside the room, they have an enormous air conditioner (cooler + heater) with an easy to use controller, they worked fine, it's just too loud, two queen beds inside my room and the one closer to it might have a hard time to overcome the noise should you want to sleep.
The thick quilt is kind of hot even when you set the room temp to 21degree C while sleeping. The mattress and pillows all are a bit soft(purely personal feeling)
The room I stayed has a medium-sized Microwave machine, bigger refrigerator (compare to some other hotels), no USB port inhouse, though.
Bathroom is in good conditions, and using a tub + standard single rotating knob to control the temperature for shower and/or faucet. It would be better should they consider adding a small mirror and a handheld shower head.
Not much choices in breakfast, but it's there.
The last day of our stay, front desk staff firmly declined my late check out request and locked out my room card even before 12:00pm(), and my membership status usually get to extend to 16:00 without any problems... (We got pickup van on 14:30, but she just wouldn't allowed , not even for 14:00. 12:00 is what she insisted. And not to mention that we stayed at this hotel for 7 days already). ( For that, I have to get down and reset my room card, which is really annoying)
Since she insist that they really need that room, I didn't attempt further negotiations. But after I moved to my colleague's room right at next door, then found out that no house keeping staff came and take the room and start cleaning, no one, even when we depart from hotel around 1420. Worst experience of stay since my joining Marriott membership.
One other funny thing is, while one of my colleagues requested points as rewards, he got a titanium elite membership, that same lady only replied "You need to contact our customer services for that..." Did she fully aware...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott Anchorage Midtown, Dec 2021.
The room, staff and overall cleanliness of the hotel was completely unsatisfactory.
I had to switch rooms the first night due to an absurdly loud heating/cooling fixture.
Te curtains and carpert were filthy and had burn marks. The toilet didn't flush, the tub was clogged and there was a used wash cloth hanging from the curtain rod from a previous guest.
I complained about all of this to the front desk associates and they assured me Housekeeping and Maintenance would take care of it while I was away the next day. By the time I returned to the room early that evening, I discovered nothing had been done at all. Which prompted a complaint to the Assistant Manager, this time around.
Finally, maintenance arrived to repair the tub and toilet. Upon their departure, the used wash cloth had not been removed. I complained for the 3rd time and the front desk associate tried to hand me latex glove and told me to remove the wash cloth and bring it down to the front desk. The audacity! She asked this of me in front of the assistant manager (Mark), who stood there and said nothing nor reprimanded the associate for such a request from a paying guest!
On to hotel cleanliness...the floors were so sticky it was difficult to walk because your shoes stuck aggressively to the floor. The coffee tasted like hot water and the hand sanitizer stations were filthy...should have been wiped down at the least for presentation.
The bed...you feel every spring and coil.
Perhaps this hotel has gone unchecked for too long and is in need of a remodel.
I have never experienced such filth and disrespect from Marriott owned hotels.👎🏾 I will never stay here again, nor...
Read moreI’ve traveled a lot through the years (sometimes 8 trips in one month) and I’ve seen a great amount of accommodations, in all types and forms. This place, however, had by far the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced so far. I had to call 3 times for the complimentary shuttle, which showed up after 1 hour and 5 minutes to pick me up. The driver was unbothered, no greeting and continued with his loud and private phone call in a foreign language. Check in was done in a rush. Nothing was told about the facilities of the hotel. The rooms are musty, with an old and worn out interior, moldy bathroom and no soundproof windows. This place is way too pricey for what you get and should not carry the Marriott brand at all. After checkin, I went straight out to explore the city of Anchorage. When I returned at night, I found out there was a leakage from the ceiling, dripping right on the AC. I called and someone came to check. She than returned to the front desk, to find a solution. Nothing could be done though, because there were no rooms available as the hotel was full. As I booked through Trip.com, I couldn’t get a refund. I was given Bonvoy points, even though I explained that I wouldn’t be using those, as I always book through a third party. Trip.com was trying to solve the issue with the hotel for weeks, but I was informed they couldn’t. Trip.com was helpful enough and gave me some Trip credits, which I definitely will be using in the future. It’s when there’s a problem, that you can truly see what the level of customer service they have. The staff clearly has no clue and you’ll be treated like nothing. I wouldn’t stay here again not even for free! I was happy I was booked only...
