Ryuu Bowl — Restaurant in Alaska

UPDATE: 5/5 - I became a repeat customer and LOVE eating here. Also, they listen to their customers! I had complained in the past about them not debuting their shrimp and they changed :) Their tempura doesn't have the black line in it anymore. A business that listens and changes for its customers. Five out of five starts.

OLD REVIEW: 4/5 I order the Japanese cheesecake, teriyaki bento bowl, tiger roll, and karrage (japanese style fried chicken). It was all delicious… EXCEPT their Shrimp Tempura grossed me out!! :( They didn’t de-gut the shrimp tails, so there were lines of intestinal poop inside the Shrimp Tempura. That was kinda gross- and i’m sure plenty of other people feel the same way about this. No one wants to eat a little bit of poop while enjoying their tempura. I’m leaving this review as feedback to the restaurant owner so they can start degutting the shrimp tails. Aside from that, all of the other food was great!! I would have left five stars if they degutted their shrimp. Hope you guys end up changing the way you prepare...

So i tried this place last year when it was only a few months old and it did not stack up to the competition in our opinion but also what with covid, being brand new, etc we felt like it might just not have been their best showing. Fast forward to today, we gave them another try and it was AWESOME. We got the mt fuji and then the tiger roll at the cashiers recommendation and both were exceptional. They have definitely upped their portion and flavor game. Their milk tea is also FABULOUS. We meant to add a picture but then we ate it all by accident before we could. The Japanese cheesecake was also a fun new thing we had never had. It was like angel food cake and cheesecake put together. Very light and fun but not nearly as sweet as we were expecting. Ordered 3 dishes for take out and was not disappointed. The miso soup was packaged very securely which I appreciated. The rainbow2 roll had a generous amount of spicy tuna which actually had a nice kick. The unagi bowl surprised us with its nice presentation but also with a portion of it being spicy which was great. The haedupbap had a generous amount of veggies and sauce which you can add more in for extra spice, I appreciated the smaller cut fish but it was a bit sparse.
