Note: my experience was from the food truck at The Barn, Albany. I'll preface this review by saying I am going to try it again, but man, the brisket was the absolute worst I've ever had. Maybe it's not their strong point, and that's ok, but good lord. I'm pretty confident that it was just boiled meat. Boiled in my hopes and dreams of finding good brisket outside of Texas. There is no way what I was served was smoked. No bark. No smoke rings. No flavor. I actually tried to pull as hard as I could from both ends to see if it would pull apart. It did not.
I also ordered the burnt ends as a side. If you've had good brisket, you know burnt ends should be like candy. Nah dog. Not here. Lathered in a way too sweet sauce to mask the dryness. Why the sauce?
My sides were Mac and cheese and Cole slaw. 2 more regrets. The Mac was watery. Like, actually soupy. The Cole slaw was flavorless. Where there actually should've been some sauce, there wasnt. No salt. No pepper. Just sadness.

I got the burnt ends plate and there was maybe 2-3 ounces of meat maybe. The beans honestly tasted like they were straight out of the can too. Mac n cheese was decent. Bbq sauce is very good. The banana pudding was the best I have had. Now I am not cheap when it comes to food, however for 26.00 I guess I expected a little more meat. The reality is the burnt ends are most likely yesterday’s left overs so I assumed you would get more than what was given. With all that said I am always willing to give a second chance and I will for sure try again. My daughter thinks the Mac n...
Read moreReally good southern BBQ. Louisiana style for those that don't know. The kahlua pork tacos are the BEST. We love the southern slaw and the pulled pork, tri-tip, KC sauce, etc.. amazing! The owner is also sweet and kind, we go weekly, either to the location at the corner of 4th and Lyon, or her food truck at the Barn. Sad part is, the City of Albany continues to screw her over with the permitting process; it's been 2 years now she's been trying to get outdoor picnic tables for the downtown location, even though she's been threatened with fines, and their city computer problems have cost her more $$.. we'll continue to support local businesses who are simply trying to make Albany a great place to...
