This used to be one of our favorite breakfast spots, and between the food (and the scones!) and the service, it had been a solid 5/5. We have tons of pictures of us and our kids eating there over the years. Even though it's nowhere near our house, we'd still make it here about once per month. Our visit this past weekend, though, was very disappointing.
The used-to-be-worth-the-trip scones? Meh.
The used-to-be-really-good-food? Just ok, but nothing worth going out of your way for.
The used-to-be-great service? Not good. They called our name, walked partway into their backyard, pointed out our table at the back, and walked away. They'd cleared the table but didn't bother to set out enough chairs for us, so I had to get an additional chair. I asked about a menu side, and the server went through the ingredients, ending with yams. I said that I didn't like yams and asked to substitute regular potatoes. . . which she did, but didn't bother to point out that it had yams in it too. Since they have coffee out, they don't bother to offer any service or stop by the table to see if you need anything. My wife asked for an English Breakfast tea and was given something (unlabeled) that definitely didn't seem to be an English Breakfast at all, and while we flagged the server down and asked to confirm it was English Breakfast, we were told she had taken it from the English Breakfast box, so it had to be English Breakfast. (It still wasn't.)
All of the old service staff that used to make the restaurant great seem to not be gone. And they've gone to this model where they pretend that they are a full-service restaurant and charging as if they were, but they don't really offer service anymore. If you're going to be a restaurant where the customer needs to do everything themselves, just switch to an order-at-the-counter model and order-at-the-counter prices and stop pretending you are what you're not.
So Sam's Log Cabin comes off of our list of breakfast spots after all these years. I don't feel any need to ever come back. Which...
Read moreToday Sunday 6, 2024 at 12:40pm I was with my family at this place which normally frequently to celebrate my family birthday because I am resident in the area. I have received a REALLY BAD SERVICE. My family and I where waiting for our food but it took to long. We where looking others customers that arrived after us getting there food first and they where having pancakes and scrambled eggs too. I asked one of the waitress to check on are food because we saw people getting they food first and we were waiting for long. We got our food and the waitress asked me is everything is ok and I answer NO because our food took for long and she said she will check the time. Then another female waitress approached to my family table with a REALLY BAD ATTITUDE and said, “are you trying to complaint” and I said YES because our food take for long and she said “all depends on the food”. I answered her that other customers got the same food that we order and since she was with a really bad attitude I ask her that I will like to speak with the manager and if she can leave us so that my family can try to enjoy breakfast and she answer AM THE MANAGER. and said “DON’T COME BACK”. To the owner of this place I will say that I have attending your business for years and I have celebrated birthdays with my family there. I never have any issues at your place until today. Your manager have a really bad customer service. She didn’t care that my wife was pregnant, she didn’t care about the present of my child. She didn’t care if I was a regular customer. As a customers I have that right to complaint and if one of yours waitress is asking me a question I answer with sincerity. I will not come back to your place. I asked for manager name and it was a top secret until someone told me is Briana which at this point I don’t know if is real. But was is real is...
Read moreWe used to come here often and have had a mix bag of experiences with service/waiting. It’s best to come early on a weekday. Expect a long wait on weekends and a long walk for parking if you find it. One of the biggest issues that has kept us from coming as much is the prices. We went from a single couple to a family of four but over the years, we’ve noticed that though our kids are sharing a plate it’s hard to justify the price. 3 & 6$ for an egg (not sure the difference, is it carton eggs vs cracked) and $17 for chilaquiles? For those of you who don’t know what that is, its: tortilla chips, salsa/sauce, two eggs, some black beans, a little cheese, and a tiny side of guacamole. That means with a side of protein it fruit and an orange juice or coffee it’s already $30/person. Hard to justify for a simple breakfast. The last straw that broke the camels back? Our last experience our bill had 6 cents. Instead of asking us for a coin they returned with 12 cents and shorted the rest of the dollar vs just giving us a bill back. Now, the dollar would have been left in the tip anyway but the principal of it- you couldn’t just “eat” the 6 cents? As if we didn’t just spend a small fortune on 3 plates, a side, and an orange juice?. Additionally, the eggs were such a tiny portion size it was hard to believe it was a whole egg. It was also flat and paper thin. If the kids weren’t so impatient I wasn’t so over it and worried about offending I would have sent it back and asked for an actual egg for them. We’re on the search for a new breakfast spot if anyone has...
