The Green Mill is a chain restaurant known for their pizza. If you follow me you know I love pizza, but this time I tried their spicey bacon cheese burger. The provided a few slices for bread with butter. The burger was cooked perfectly. The bacon was perfect. Not too chewy not too crispy to where it crumbles. The jalapeños weren't soggy but nice and crunchy. They have fried onions, and I'm not an onion guy, but they were delicious. The bread for the burger was great. The French fries could have used some help, they were a little limp but still had good taste. They have a nice large bar area with a number of TVs and tables. One the other side in the dinning area they have a lot of booths and tables, large enough for a good size party. Friendly staff, clean tables, the restaurant looked well maintained. I was starving so I didn't get a good picture of the meal but needless to say it was delicious. Lots of parking, right next to a nice hotel. Definitely a nice place to relax and eat, but it is pricey. About $19 for the burger, fries, and a Coke. Hope to go there again to review their pizza and get some more pictures of the restaurant.

3 Orders - 2.5 Stars I've had food delivered from Green Mill in Albert Lea three times in recent weeks. The first order, including spaghetti with meatballs, was perfection. It was a generous serving and the taste was well with the price. I also ordered a desert and it too was wonderful. On my second order, I chose the Walleye sandwich with fries. They didn't wrap the sandwich separately before packing it in the plastic container and the steam left the bread soggy and the fries--all eight of them--wilted. On top of that, the fried fish had no texture or taste. I decided to give it another shot. My third order was one of the more expensive pasta dishes, Langostino Lobster and Shrimp. The serving size was small compared to the spaghetti. The taste was bland and there was no parmesan cheese that I could see or taste. Definitely not worth the price, especially when paying for delivery. On the upside, the delivery drivers have all been fast and polite and that's a bonus.

Greeted and seated immediately. Arrived right at opening on a Monday. Chose to sit in a booth on the dining side instead of in the bar or on the patio. Open kitchen, handicap accessible, clean restrooms and dining area. The most important part was the server was working alone and it's a big place. By the the time I left there were at least 20 tables spread throughout, including some patio diners. She was rocking it! I tipped her generously as a thank you. My pizza was burnt which took away some stars. The coconut chicken starter was great, the bread was good, service spectacular considering it was one person doing it all. Bill was $35 before tip and I had enough left overs for 3 full meals (if I would have ate the burnt pizza, my furry babies got to share that). It's a chain so I may try a different location sometime. Every once in awhile I want a nice deep dish pizza.

UPDATE: I contacted management (per their response to my review), and I received a response that aligns with arrogance of their beliefs instead the reality of their establishment. Not one incident I wrote about was met with an apology, rather management chose to respond stating "that's not what happens here". I have changed my review from two stars, to one star, as their commitment to being ignorant of a customers experience seems a higher priority than fixing the problem. We will no longer be doing business with Green Mill Restaurant & Bar.

ORIGINAL: I'll start with: I've done dine-in, take-out and delivery from here. There's zero consistency, if you're okay with that, then it should be fine to dine using Green Mill Restaurant & Bar.

Dine-in: Busy. Loud (bar). Slowish service (because...busy). All things you'd expect. Which isn't affecting my rating. It's all normal. What isn't normal is when you order something and they make mistakes that they try to quickly correct, but tied to slowish service and being busy, they end up making more mistakes.

Takeout: Food might not be ready when they say it will be (busy). It might be cold when it is ready to go. The portions are between 50-70% of what you would get if you dine-in. They might not include items that are supposed to come with your meal (missing bread twice, missing an appetizer twice, missed desert for two people once). If that happens, they don't take any responsibility for missing them, so you end up paying for items that didn't make it into your order.

Delivery: First off...it isn't Green Mills fault if my food arrives to me cold, but with my experience of picking it up myself and being cold...it seems to relate closely with a restaurant problem and not a delivery problem. Again, as it's technically takeout, portions are between 50-70% of what you would get if you dine-in. Missing items occurs regularly (which were comped by the delivery service, which will NOT happen if you do takeout and waste your own gas).

Food: What food you do get Dine-in is pretty tasty, if it's the right food. It's usually (had one bad experience) hot if its supposed to be, but I've only been a few times in-house for a meal. Drinks are watered down (or they sit before delivery?) so they don't taste right. Maybe they're better ordered direct from the bar?

I won't say I've hated doing business here, but...they have a lot of fixing to do to make a "great" experience I love, instead of disliking it and only participating in being a customer when someone else recommends...

Traveling with a toddler (and pregnant) and not wanting to order fast food, we decided to get take out pasta from Green Mill in Albert Lea.

Walking in there were 4 hostesses/take out girls who couldn't have been more disorganized despite the restaurant being super slow on a Saturday at dinner time. They were also filling mini containers of parmesan cheese, peppers, rolling silverware, etc on a dirty table that they were also checking customers out on. I can't imagine that's safe or under code. Also kind of gross to get your extras from a dirty old drawer under the cash register.

Our food came out decently quick, but the hostesses forgot every.little.thing. I had to ask for dressing for my salad, the bread for our meal, our butter, cutlery, napkins, and then finally after all of those individual trips I was given attitude for asking for an extra little bowl to split the pasta with my daughter. Apparently they cost too much to give out extras - which I do understand, but give me a styrofoam cup - plastic cup...anything. I was just asking for something my daughter could eat out of instead of a huge plate that would've inevitably ended up on my car floor.

To make matters worse the meatball spaghetti we ordered was borderline inedible. The pasta was okay, but the meatballs were cold & pretty disgusting. Not to mention I was a little weirded out about the above mentioned dirty drawer parmesan cheese. Salad was soggy too - the parmesan crisp on top was wiggly - like flubber.

Not the experience I hoped for taking 30 mins out of our all day drive to grab something "better" only to eat a few bites of noodles and bread for dinner. Also not worth the nearly $20 it cost.

I hope not all Green Mill's operate this way because I really have no interest in ever going to another...

I will never ever recommend this place to anyone. I called to inquire about prices of pasta and delivery after speaking with the hostess For sometime, I told her what kind of dish I was looking for I requested a fettuccine with lobster. The fettuccine itself was 1499 and the lobster was apparently 899 to add which she didn’t tell me when she went ahead and ran my card which I did give her the numbers for I Did not confirm if I wanted the dish or not. Before I could even finish what I was saying, she had read my card and not even told me an Before I could even finish what I was saying, she had read my card and not even told me a total when she told me it was for 3097 for one dish. I said I don’t want that. She said I already ran your card. It will take three days to be refunded . It is now been five days almost. and I called Management to say something about my overdraft and the fact that I did not authorize her to run the card and that she did not give me a total. Management said when you give your card number that’s authorization enough I would assume you should not assume I did not say I wanted that dish. She did not give me a price and she was extremely rude about it. I would not recommend green to anyone. Certainly don’t ask to go because the A couple of the horses and the manager are kind of snotty. You should never assume ma’am do you not know the...
