Went over to see what the raves were all about. #1 Burger? Great, were too close not to go try it out. We arrived and were seated quicky. It did not take our server long to great us, he was cheerfull and friendly. I ordered the "Iron Lion" and my GF had a root Beer which we recieved in good time and both enjoyed. We placed our food order around the time things started to pick up. Although three to four groups of between 2 to four people showed up after us and were seated, there were still places open for more, even with the social distance guidlines. After about 15 to 20 minuts, as my eyes swept the room I noticed many tables with no food and empty glasses. In another 10 minuts, I noticed a couple of these tables getting their food orders. We waited a little longer. My GF gets a little Hangry sometimes, so at about 40 minuts after we ordered and we have noticed two tables that were sat AFTER we ordered getting their food, she got up and said somthing. She was reasonably polite, given the situation and was told, "Yes, It's been 43 minuts, but were slammed and theres nothing we can do." - Yikes!. Slammed? Ehh no. Busy? yes ok, but that's the point? Right? They Were running tables outside and I did notice carry out bags being popped open maybe three times, but, 45 Minutes? The food arrived and Honestly, her mood to enjoy the meal had soured. The Fries were great, super hot, fresh out of the fryer. But the burgers, luke warm and nothing special. We can get these in any hole in the wall grubby ole bar. Much faster. Had they been served hot off the grill before the cheese hardened back up, the lettuce gotten limp and saturated?, maybe. And with other tables that arrived AFTER we did getting their orders before us, It really isn't a "Slammed" or even busy issue. It's not C-19 or being understaffed. It's organization. Dont get me wrong, the place has potential and I'd love to see it prosper, see Albion spring back a little from it's former self. I hope a way can be found to get your orders out quicker. If your patronage drops down to the level of your staff's ability to serve, your overhead costs will quickly exede...
Read moreWe stopped on our way home. We waited for someone to come seat us for over 5 minutes. They all saw us, but nobody came. We saw an open seat at the bar, but little did we know it was for the wait staff to stand there. Finally somebody came and told us the only seats available were outside. It was hot out, but we were hungry. She sat us and then we waited. No menus and no beer description, just the names of the beer on the napkin holder. We waited at least 10 minutes. We watched waiters/waitresses come in and out, going to table next to us and around us, but none even acknowledge us. Still no menus. Finally one girl came over and asked if we'd been helped. She looked at another waitress like "well..." and urged her on to wait on us. Then another guy who had been out to talk to his friends at table next to us asked if we'd been waited on. "oh, I wanted to make I didn't miss you". UH, HE DID, EACH TIME HE CAME OUT. The other girl went to get us menus, we asked about beer menu. There isn't one, so she's trying to verbally tell us what they all taste like and so forth.. a lot to remember and waste of time. We order a few samples. We knew we'd have to decide quickly when she brought the samples because we've already been there 30 minutes and haven't even ordered food yet. Burger was ok, I laughed when I saw the banner hanging over the street that they were voted #1 in Michigan. Really ? It wasn't that great, we've had many others that are so much better. We ended up being there over an hour and only had 1 beer each, which the beer wasn't that great either. Service sucked. Food was good, but expensive for what you got. Luckily it's not near where we live so we don't have to bother going back. It looked like it would be better than it...
Read moreGreat place! The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable, with picnic style tables and benches and no host/hostess, so you seat yourself. The menu is small but has a good variety. We ordered fried cheese curds and French fries and, though it was a simple order, the flavors were fantastic and the portions were generous and we left full and satisfied. The service was quick, friendly, and helpful.
The beer is what you have to go for. The brew list is always changing so there's always something new to try. And behind the bar, you can see right through to where they brew it! I had an 11 oz of "Skin in the Game" and it was so delicious. Crisp, refreshing, smooth, it was well balanced; just sweet and tart enough, not bitter, not heavy, and not too hoppy. The lime and the juniper were really present and complimentary of each other. I barely felt like I was drinking beer. I really loved that you can get multiple different sizes, so if you don't know whether you'll like something or not, you can just order 5 oz and pay less than a couple bucks. I think that's really smart and super helpful for people (like me) who don't drink beer very often and don't know what to order.
Also, as a side note, all the bathrooms are gender neutral, all single stalls with both a toilet and a urinal. This is the first time I'd run across that in a restaurant, and I really appreciated seeing that there. I was quite impressed.
Great job! We'll...
