Despite all the positive comments from other reviews, this place is not running to the standards of a Mexican restaurant. First, upon entering, we did not know what to do. Would we sit down or wait to be seated? So we decided to sit down and then we had to wait a long time to get the menus. Second: I have taken a picture of the menu so the other people can easily see what is being offered. Third: there was only another table and I felt the food was taking too long to make. Maybe it is going to be be good food, no? When the food arrived, the type of dough used to make the Tostada, Taco Tortilla, and Enchiladas Tortilla were all made out of flour. Not your typical Corn style dough
Food critic: Taco
Recommendation: Taco: offer a second option of having corn tortilla, steak, cilantro and onion Tostada: also have it made out of corn, implement Queso Fresco (fresh cheese) and use either chicken or steak Enchilada: use handmade corn tortilla, if you're going to use the canned version of the sauce, mix more tomatoes and other ingredients to make it taste more authentic. Also, do not use American Cheese. Event our waiter agreed that a lot of people were against it. Also use...
Read moreI went to Lopez Taco House with a couple of friends due to us being tired of eating at our college and just being curious about what the town had to offer. We decided to settle on one of the few restaurants in town, not knowing what to expect.
When we arrived we were quickly seated, and the restaurant was pack. We were greeted by a nice waitress, and she was confused about why more college students didn't come to the restaurant as so were we. It was time to order. and I ordered the Shrimp Nachos. When I got my food, I was excited. As I ate my food, the nachos were a big disappointment as I keep wondering, "who puts shredded cheese on nachos"? After that, I stop eating my food and ate around my plate searching for other things I could eat off of it instead.
After we were mostly finished eating. The chef, manager or whatever he was had come back and asked how the food was. I express the idea when making nachos next time don't add shredded cheese. After that, he asks us to try his "Mexican spaghetti"—which is not a real thing by the way—and after incorrectly assuming two of my Latinx friends were Mexican we tried his weak soup. No wonder nobody at college has been to the place, it's not very good or real for that matter.
This is not an authentic Mexican restaurant. The food was not authentic Mexican food. If the food isn't prepared authentically or made by the people themselves than don't serve it as Mexican food! I even looked up if it was a Tex-Mex restaurant before publishing which would of excuse the food, but...
Read moreBased on the positive rating we decided to try this place. The food is just so-so, and not really good. As an example, I had their signature burrito, and it was ok. The shredded meat inside of it was really good, but the cheese on top was like a shredded Velveeta that sort of melted. It was hard to eat. My husband chose something completely different, but didn't really enjoy his dinner either. Also, they were out of salsa when we went, so they offered us guacamole instead. It was thick and didn't have much flavor other than the avocado itself. Seasoning was definitely needed. We are not salt people, but it needed something, cilantro, black pepper, something. They also do not serve drinks, other than soft drinks, just fyi. The people that work there are extremely nice, and friendly... It's just not enough to make us ever want to go back...
