Review about the owner for potential performers and vendors:
Absolutely demeaning and condescending owner who does not know how to treat professional performers well, especially musicians. Didn't communicate clearly with any of the bands until the day of the show. Keeps pointing to a contract agreement that barely communicates expectations. "It's a cafe not a club", is not a valid reason to treat people so dehumanizingly especially when all other shows at the site have had varied expectations.
Understandably, the venue puts out a $5 cover but then acts like the band owed him for putting them on the bill when the band isn't even getting paid besides "food and drink". Maybe it's a favor for musicians trying to make it but not for a band that already has a major following and is being paid elsewhere professionally. This guy needs to learn how the business works and who he's working with before trying to put on shows. Absolute headache to work with and wasted a lot of our time.
It's a major bummer because the Cafes mission seems so counter to his negative attitude. I actually really enjoyed going there before this interaction. I also really hope the people who work there get what they need.
As far as I've learned, his reputation for being mean to other people is not limited to musicians and my band's interaction with him. I saw him talking to his own employees in the same condescending manner when she had a minor misunderstanding with the band. I don't know where to start with the irony of being a recovery center but that's what it...

The Star of the Show: The breakfast burrito, smothered in both red AND green chile (Christmas in my mouth), was absolute perfection. Read moreThey charged me for stuff that wasn’t on the menu. After I asked about it, The lady taking my order apologized and expressed how she’s been trying to get the owner to fix it. I told her Im just going “eat” the bill and they gotta figure it out. After eating, the head chef acting like the owner, tried kicking me out because he was under the impression I yelled at the employees. His argument was this place is for addiction fighting people who are in training and that I should have read the signs displaying that info.
Regardless of what type of people they employ, a menu should reflect what your charging people and the staff should have the basic information to answer questions. Instead, he got extremely defensive and completely disregarded the problems that caused it. I told them to look at the cameras and hear what I said but it was to no luck.
As I walked out before it got physical, he sarcastically and extremely random, said something about Palestine. I believe he said this cause I look Arabic but I’m not sure. Overall, extremely weird place, weird way to handle issues, and a weird interpretation of my criticisms that ANY restaurant owner would agree is a...
